Hi I'm Mel

I grew up on a farm, in a small rural community. I moved 30 miles away and have raised a family of six. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small community and that's where I have ended up. I grew up on a farm and I still enjoy watching things grow in my garden.I married a farmer that ended up being a school teacher. We spend a lot of time participating in school activities. I love spending time with my family and the youth by attending their sporting events. I have raised four boys and two girls and I feel my children learn life lessons by being involved at school and in the community. Some of my hobbies include painting, crocheting, and making casseroles. And one of my favorite things to do is watch major league baseball. Love it!

Why I am a Mormon

Obedience. I am pretty sure that's the word that describes my membership. I was born into a family that had already accepted the gospel. I can trace my family members back to when they joined the church, and the hardships and persecution they endured because of it. They stuck with their decision to be obedient to the end. I am thankful for their determination and example. Through them I have gained a strong testimony of my own of this gospels truth.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the church gives me a direction and hope. I continue to learn and grow by going to church, praying and reading the scriptures. I have a new calling as a seminary teacher. We are studying the Old Testament in the Bible this year. The high school students are incredible. If you are ever discouraged about today's youth, you should visit a seminary classroom. My students are smart, they read their scriptures and also want to be and do good. At times I think that they are there to teach me.
