Hi I'm Kristina

I love to belly dance, research family history, and cook. I am a mother of 6 and love spending time with my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom of 6 kids. My oldest three have autism and it has been a challenge to figure out how to meet their needs and help them thrive. They are doing great, but we still have our struggles. I believe that strong family support can help a lot for any children, but especially those with autism. I am a family representative for Early Intervention for kids birth to three. I had the most success with my kids' autism needs when we pulled together as a family making sure my husband and I were working in unison with each other and the gospel. When my kids had a hard time talking and reading, we took President Benson's message to heart about if you wanted to learn a foreign language, read the Book of Mormon in that language. For my kids, English was a foreign language, so I felt prompted to give it a try. We started reading the animated stories of the Book of Mormon with the kids and they made amazing progress. That has kept me seeking for gospel solutions for our family's needs. I enjoy cooking and baking. It is wonderful to smell yummy dinners, bread, or cookies through out my house and my kids often join in to help. My hobbies are traditional belly dancing, reading books, and family history.

Why I am a Mormon

I guess in part I am a Mormon because I was born into it. There came a time for me (and I would guess all of us must go through this) that I had to decide if what I had been taught in my life was good and worth keeping in my life. I have always been interested in what others believe and have taken advantage of opportunities to learn and research about other religions. For me it has always come back to the scriptures. When I read from the Bible or Book of Mormon I always feel the peace of the Savior in my life. When I follow the precepts taught by Jesus, I feel a difference in my attitudes, the way I treat others, the way I understand the world around me. There have been times in my life when I did not live the principles taught by our Savior, and they have been sad, lonely, and unproductive times of my life. By living the gospel, I have joy in my Savior and what he has done for me and how following Him blesses my life.

How I live my faith

My husband will tell you I am a "fixer". I can't walk by something that has fallen over or spilled and not stop to fix it. I like to take time to help out regardless of who it is or what needs to be done. I have found that I have many opportunities to help out and serve those around regardless if the are in my church or not. One thing that is really important to me is my attitude towards being a mom. I really enjoy it and have found a lot of intrinsic rewards in it. It is wonderful to me to see my children progress and grow. I work with my children in helping them develop positive traits and values to share with those around us. It can be challenging to teach them patience or being a peacemaker, but I have found when I model it as well as verbally teach about it, they really grasp these challenging concepts. It is important to me to follow the Lord's example by being kind, helpful, and keeping the commandments. I know that it is only by the grace of God that I am saved. I feel that one of the ways that show my love for Him is by following his teachings and allowing his peace into my life.
