Hi I'm Elder Hood

I am a missionary for the LDS Church. I love the Beach, I love serving, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am an Eagle Scout in the BSA. I am currently a missionary in the Virginia Chesapeake Mission. It is a new mission that opened up in July of 2013. I am excited to further the work and invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through Faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and enduring to the end.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Latter Day Saint of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I love the people and I especially love Jesus Christ. I love reading about him in not only the New Testament but also the Old Testament, Book Of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants. I love finding cool stories in the Scriptures and I like reading about all of the extraordinary people in the Book of Mormon. I have read and prayed about the Book of Mormon and have come to know of it's truth. I recently went through some hard times and didn't know if I had a testimony, that is when I started to pray and turn to the Lord. Through a few long months of reading the Book Of Mormon I found my answer, I prayed one day to know if it was true and I sincerely wanted to know, I got my answer right there when the Holy Ghost came over me and I felt complete peace. I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the true church restored again. I love the Gospel and I love the atonement and I am very thankful for my Savior who atoned for my sins. I would not be on a mission if I didn't personally exercise the atonement and the repentance process, I know it heals lives and saves us so that we can one day return to live with our loving Heavenly Father. I am excited for that day when I can live with Him again!

How I live my faith

I am serving a mission, I reported August 7th, 2013 and will be serving until August 5th, 2015. I love the gospel and can't wait to reach out and help others feel the love I have felt and feel. I recently went through my own personal conversion and through that I show my love for Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father by serving others Mosiah 2:17. I have read the Book of Mormon multiple times and I will continue to read it over and over again. I know that it is the keystone of our Religion because it testifies of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. I go to church and feel the spirit there weekly and I daily feel the spirit as a missionary. I know that serving a mission is the right thing for me to do and because I know it is the right thing to do I do it to the best of my ability every single day. I am glad that Jesus Christ came down and sacrificed His life so that I can serve to the best of my ability everyday, and not only that but I can repent daily and feel of His love constantly.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Elder Hood
We take two years of our lives to bring people unto Jesus Christ. We do not get paid for this, we actually pay our way to serve The Lord. We teach about our church and give people the tools to return to live with their Heavenly Father. As missionaries our job is to invite others unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gist of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. We love what we do and we love the people that we serve. We do it because we want everyone to have the happiness we have in knowing that we will return to live with Heavenly Father again as long as we strive to keep the commandments and do what is right. What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Elder Hood
The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ. When we read the scriptures we are following God's commandments and in turn He blesses our lives tremendously. We are also promised that the Holy Ghost testifies the truth of all things (Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:5, page 529). As we read the Scriptures, we will feel the Holy Ghost testify and comfort our souls. The Book of Mormon also answers the questions of the soul. We can ease our minds as we read the scriptures.
