Hi I'm Ken Rachal

I was born and raised in Louisiana. I am a Dad, Grandfather; and can trace my French ancestors to the 1500’s. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a small business owner, father of five wonderful children, happily married for 33 years. I am a Postal worker, enjoy woodworking, gold prospecting, family history and playing with our grandchildren. I served a 2 year church mission to British Columbia, and served 4 years in the US Air Force, and am a disabled veteran. I love the outdoors, hiking in the desert, and always have a project in the making. Currently our youngest son is serving a church mission in Oregon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have an unwavering testimony of the Savior. I was nine years old when Mormon missionaries came to our home. My brother, Mom and I joined the church shortly thereafter. The youth in the church were very cohesive and supportive growing up. I had never planned on serving a mission, and didn’t know that the Lord was preparing me to serve. When I was 17, I graduated from school, and was traveling to distant large cities, hiring and running crews to set up furniture showrooms for the furniture shows. My Dad was not a member, but I was close to a young lady and her Dad that I respected and looked up to invited me to serve. As I taught and served my Canadian brothers and sisters, I developed a deep love and respect for them. At the close of my mission, I tried to extend my time there. I learned that I could serve wherever I was called, and have answered the call whenever it comes. I have been active in the church all of my life, and the Gospel has given my family strength, structure, and guidance that is not available anywhere else. Wherever we have moved, we have had found church members in our new area just as helpful and kind as the last. It has been comforting to know that the church is the same wherever you may be. My testimony of a living prophet and apostles, the Book of Mormon, and sacred promises made in Holy Temples have come through reading, studying and asking the Lord in prayer. I have received many witnesses and blessings and have felt the tender mercies of the Lord, and know that this Gospel is true.

How I live my faith

I have spent 20+ years in the Scouting program, assisting and supporting young men. I have been involved in many youth trips, visiting the Temple with them, and also nearby attractions. I have served several years as a Sunday School teacher, Primary teacher, Young Men's leader, and Priesthood leader. Making monthly visits to several members in their homes, meeting any needs they may have. Serving with other Priesthood holders to assist those who may need comfort, support, etc. To answer the call to serve whatever it may be. I try to pattern my life after the life of the Savior, to love as He would love, to help those in need as He would help, to serve others as He would have served-to share this precious gospel so that others may receive of its wondrous blessings!
