Hi I'm Dru

I've lived in Arizona for 32 years, I'm an Ironworker by profession, I have a wife and 8 wonderful children and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Utah and when I was just a baby our family moved to South Texas where I spent my growing up years. There weren’t many Mormons there but I had a lot of good friends who were active in other religions. I had two hobbies, riding motorcycles and going to the beach (Padre Island). When I turned 19, I went on a 2 year mission to Northern California. I had a great experience introducing the LDS Church to many wonderful people. When the mission was over I went to a technical school in Utah to learn how to weld and work steel, while at school I met my sweetheart who was also a student, she was studying to be an elementary Ed teacher. We were married in the Salt Lake Temple and moved to Arizona a year later because I work construction and Utah was too cold for a southern boy. I've spent the last 32 years in the welding business and raising kids (8 to be exact) in the Phoenix Metropolitan area.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Mormon Church because its doctrines make sense. Through the teachings of the Church I've gained a knowledge and testimony of Gods great love for me. I know that I existed before I was born in a pre-mortal world with God. I know there is a purpose for living, and I know that individuals can live as resurrected exalted beings in Gods domain as families after this life is over. There is nothing more important to me than to know my family relationships can continue beyond the grave. The Church is led by a living prophet who communicates with God on a regular basis. God gives teachings and warnings to all of us, His children. He does this through a chosen prophet in our day just as He did in the days of Abraham, Moses and Isaiah. If we listen to and obey the words of the prophets we can avoid pitfalls laid down by the adversary. Through the Church, I've come to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer; I know He loves me and is interested in my life. To worship Him, I must follow His teachings and strive to be like Him by loving and serving others. This life can be difficult with its many challenges, Christ didn’t promise an easy life, but He did promise peace in this life and eternal life for those who believe, and I believe.

How I live my faith

Mormonism isn’t a Sunday religion; it’s a way of life. I strive to follow the Savior and the teachings of His Church by studying the scriptures, praying and by being actively involved in the Church. Christ admonished us to be doers of the word not hearers only, The Mormon church has a lay ministry, as such, everyone is invited to participate by teaching lessons, praying, giving talks, helping with the youth programs, doing missionary work, and many other acts of service, this is what I strive to do each and every day.
