Hi I'm Jennifer

I was born in Provo, but grew up in Indiana. I'm a poet/writer and musician. I'm a Mormon :D

About Me

So I just graduated high school, about to leave for college. I'm thinking about studying journalism. I love writing; poetry, novels... you name it! (Anything but research papers!) I love to read, watch movies, and hang out with friends. When I'm not sleeping, I'm hanging around the house with my older sister and lazy (kinda on the tubby side) cat Bella.

Why I am a Mormon

I can't really say that I'm a Mormon because I was born into the church. I mean, I grew up in the church sure, but that isn't what makes me a member. When I was younger I was really enthusiastic about going to church. Every Sunday I would get ready and sing songs, read scriptures. There was no question about me getting baptized. In my family that's just what you did. You didn't question it. But as I grew up, things weren't that easy. I struggled a lot with my faith and whether or not I cared what the church thought. I did things I knew were wrong, because I wanted to be my own person; but it just made me dive deeper into a downward spiral. After a while I didn't want anything to do with the church, I just went for my mom and pretended to care. But I never felt like myself. I never felt complete... I was missing a part of me. I went almost two years until I realized that it was the warmth I got when reading my scriptures, when singing the hymns, or when going to the temple that I was missing. It wasn't until I started going to institute that I really started getting my faith back. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm a Mormon because without this church; without the gospel in my life I'd just be missing a huge piece of me. And I don't know about you, but I don't want to walk around with a big hole in my side.

How I live my faith

Right now I am really active in the local Young Single Adult or YSA branch. My sister and I go to all the activities. Family Home Evening, church, and then we hang out with some of the branch members on Thursdays. But my favorite part of the whole week is institute! I love being able to read the scriptures and learn more about them. (Especially when our teacher makes it spiritual and fun at the same time). All of these activities have helped me make new friends and come closer to my sister. And once a month we get to go to the temple :)
