Hi I'm Char

I'm a greatgrandmother married over 50 yrs. We visit our children often. We own our home. We garden, read, and walk. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I attended college taking a one year office course. I have also taken computer classes in office applications, computer layout and graphics, Behavior modification, conversational Spanish, drawing, water color, pen and ink, I volunteered in my children's schools, been a poll worker, passed petitions for causes I believe in like the family and others. Best of all has been being a mother. When I married I could barely boil water. I have learned to cook and just lately I have finally gotten the hang of making bread after years of flops and even had to bury one batch! I sew (mostly mending and altering). I am active in our Ward of the Church. We garden. I can some. I always wanted my kids to value education. That is why I volunteered in thier schools and continued to take college classes. I wanted my kids to vote so I volunteered to pass petitions and to work at the polls. I am a Family History fan.

Why I am a Mormon

I learned to pray at my grandmother's knee. We said the Lord's Prayer and Now I lay me down to sleep. I prayed in bed at night. As a child I really tried to be good. I began to wonder if there was a god when I was in High School. I prayed often to know if there was a God. I read my bible, especially the red words that were Christ's words when he was on the earth. While on a trip through the mountians I was looking at the trees and suddenly I KNEW the was a God. I then reasoned that if God was real then I needed to learn what was in the bible so I could do the right things. I married and we went to alot of different churches trying to find one that seemed right. I read "One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism," and was confused by all the differences. Evangelistic churches had alot of feeling but I just couldn't find "saved, sanctified," together in the scriptures. We listened to radio preachers and I wondered why there weren't apostles and prophets like in the scriptures. Two young men, both named Elder knocked on my door. They asked if I wondered where I came from and why I was here and where I was going after this life and I said I did. I invited them back later and we learned that there were prophets and that in the early 1800s Joseph Smith a 14yr old at the time wanted to know which church was right and went into the woods and prayed and recieved a visitation of God the Father and Jesus Christ. I knew I had finally found the right church. We were baptized.

How I live my faith

We attend church every sunday no matter where we are. We have attended out of the country and the wonderful thing is that the meetings are the same everywhere. We are called Brother or Sister because we are truely sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father. We are welcomed and asked to say prayers or help out in any number of ways. We have no paid minister. Our bishops and their two councilors have been garbage men, mail men, college professors, FBI men, etc. We do not pass a basket for donations. We privately pay our tithing in special envelopes that we place our tithes and offerings and hand the envelope to the bishop before or after the meeting. We take the Sacrament every sunday. I have taught adults, children, teenagers. I am a visitig teacher. I have a list of 4 or 5 sisters from our ward to visit each month. I visit with another sister as my companion to these sisters. We have a gospel discussion and serve these women if they have needs. We report the needs of these sisters to the Bishop so that we take care of one another. The Bishop cannot visit each member. We are the Lord's eyes and hands. I love the members who teach my family. I love teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ whenever I am called to do so. Serving our neighbors and friends as well as our church brothers and sisters fills my soul with joy. It is so wonderful to know that the Lord directs the affairs of the church. Each person who is called to teach or serve as the leaders are prayed about and called by revelation to the leaders over that group, such as Primary. I know God helps me serve in my callings in ways that I could not do of myself. I hope to be called to serve a mission with my husband. Before marriage and after our children are grown and gone from home we can be called to serve a missions.
