Hi I'm Nate

I'm a teacher. I'm a coach. I'm a father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a high school teacher, basketball coach, and father of five (soon to be six!) I am constantly surrounded by young people. I love their energy and enthusiasm for life as it infuses the same into my own. And just maybe I get to have a positive influence in their life, as they most certainly do in mine. When I am not in the classroom teaching history or on the court explaining X's and O's, I am indulging in my favorite hobby -- playing with my children. Nearly any spare time I have is taken up by my family. Whether we are playing outside, reading bedtime stories, singing songs, or just sitting around laughing, being with my family is what I want to be good at.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born into a family that actively participated in church, I had to undergo my own conversion to Jesus Christ. As a young man I found myself facing a life or death situation, literally, and with nowhere left to turn tried God as my last resort. For the first time in my life I really prayed to know if God was real. My prayer was answered with undeniable clarity and I knew that I was a child of God. Though my life did not suddenly become perfect, I found hope for the future. Through continued prayer and living the word of God to the best of my ability, I have found peace and happiness in my life. I have come to know for myself that Jesus Christ lives and that He loves me. And by following the example He set while He lived on the earth -- serving other people and obeying God's commandments -- I can be happy and someday see Him again.

How I live my faith

The most important aspect to me of living my faith, is just that -- living it. I profess to believe in certain standards and behaviors, so I feel the best thing I can do is live them. By being kind to all I come in contact with, or being honest with everyone, or helping those in need, I try to let my actions demonstrate my belief and faith in Jesus Christ. Whether I'm at church with others who have similar beliefs or in the community with those who do not share the same faith, I live my life so that others can see the joy that comes from following Jesus Christ. As part of my church responsibilities I get to work with full-time church missionaries in helping them teach other people about out faith. Further, I get the responsibility to visit families in the church and assist them in living their faith.
