Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the "Mormon" faith, however, there was a time in my life where i didn't know whether it was true or not. At the age of 11, I was going through a very tough trial. I felt so lost, not knowing what was right and what was wrong. I no longer wanted to believe what my parents had taught me to be true, but i wanted to learn for myself what was true. I needed to feel God's love for me... I needed to know... If there really was a God. James1:5 helped me realize, that if I wanted to know if there truly was a Heavenly Father, that I needed to test it out... I needed to pray. I prayed and prayed but it still seemed as if I was just mumbling words to myself. Again, I felt lost, as if I was all alone. After a period of time, I decided to continue on my reading of James reading the 6th verse of chapter 1. And then I realized that when I prayed, i lacked faith. I was just rambling off words with no meaning to them. I then decided to really pray, and have a meaning to the prayer. And the feeling I got while i prayed was like that which I had never felt before. I felt a warm comfort in my chest. I felt peace, I felt love... I could tell that Heavenly Father had heard me, and that he cared for me. I learned that there really is a God. I also learned that He hears us when we pray in Faith and with real intent. This experience was the birth of my own knowledge of what was true, and what was not true. I have since asked many questions... and the answers may not have come suddenly, but whether it was the answer i wanted or not, they did come. I learned to learn, if that makes sense? I learned to find out for myself. And That has made all the difference... My life has changed... for all the better.

How I live my faith

Mormons, as do many people, have great love for the elderly. My friends and I have the opportunity to visit the widows in our community often. Now this may seem like a service, and at first i thought of it as so; however, the more that I get to know them and spend time with them, the more I enjoy it. When I enter their homes, I feel their love, and when I leave their homes, I feel uplifted. I have learned much more from these sweet old ladies then i ever thought possible. How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

By Praying. Just as a wonderful Father loves and cares for His children, so does Heavenly Father Love and Care for You. You are a child of God, and He will answer you if you sincerely ask in Faith. (See James 1:5-6) Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes, Mormons are Christians. In fact, we strive to live our lives like Christ, for He is the perfect example, the perfect hero if you will. He suffered for me... He died for me... and He lives for Me. Show more Show less
