Hi I'm Brent

I grew up in Utah but now live in Washington. I work in healthcare marketing, play guitar, and enjoy grilling. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my mid-thirties, have been married now for 3 years, and have a 9 month-old girl. I have a undergraduate degree in business management and marketing, and recently completed an MBA. I have worked for over 10 years in retail management, and now since getting an MBA, have transitioned into what I have always wanted to do - marketing. In my free time I like to play with my new daughter, go on walks with my wife, and spend time with family. I have a few hobbies I really enjoy. I play guitar and write music. I even recorded an album in 2007, and that was really fun. I have 3 brothers and 1 sister. I still like to play computer games, especially the classic ones I grew up with.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born and raised in the church, I wasn't convinced it was me for many years. In fact, I left the church in my late teens and didn't return until I was in my late twenties. As I look back on that decade, it was very difficult for me. I got involved in drugs, tobacco, and alcohol early on which was very dangerous. I do believe God was watching over me during this time, and along with the prayers of my family, my health and life were spared. As I matured, I eventually quit drugs and tobacco, but still used alcohol. I was able to complete my undergraduate degree and begin a good career. However, religion was not something I wanted in my life. In fact, at one point I had convinced myself that God didn't even exist. These were dark days for me. I was lonely, angry, and life was very hard for me. The person I had become would not believe that in a few years I would become "born again" in the faith. It wasn't until I was at my lowest point - in trouble at work, heartbroken, and with a sick mother, that I really knew I needed to get down on my knees and pray. That single pray awakened a spirit in me that has been burning ever since. It is simply the light of Christ and the Holy Ghost that I feel even know burning in me as I type these words. Soon, I took the necessary steps to resolve my lifestyle to that needed for a disciple of Jesus Christ. All I had to do was take the effort. I was amazed at how easy it was for me to change with the Lord on my side. Since then, God has opened the windows of heaven to me and "pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it". I can honestly say now that I am happier than I have ever been, and the reason is that I strive to keep the commandments of God and have faith in his plan for us. I also strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ, and worship him as my Lord and Savior.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I enjoy taking advantages of many opportunities to live as one of Christ's disciples. Serving others, donating my time and means, and introducing others to the Gospel are things I strive to do daily. I also take personal time to learn, contemplate, and grow my own testimony and knowledge of the Gospel. I go to church every Sunday, offer daily prayers, and attend the temple often. These are all very enjoyable activities for me. I pray for God to use me as an instrument to bless the lives of others. He has answered these prays on several occasions, allowing me to bless the lives of others.
