Hi I'm Duane

I work in ultrasound. I am married, have 5 children and 8 grandchildren. I am simple and average, but,I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to golf, but would have to be considered more of a duffer. I have lived many places and do not really know where home is. I guess like Pumba said in The Lion King..."Home is where the rump rests." I love to meet people and people watch. As I work with patients, I get to talk to them about their lives. I find almost all of them to be interesting and fun. I enjoy making new friends even if I will only know them for the short time of the examination. I am an avid reader and like many books. I am a fan of Jeffery Archer, CS Lewis, Aprilynne Pike and Gerald Lund. I love to read about historical events and about the people who experienced them. I am an Eagle scout and have spent many hours helping and caring for Scouts as they try to grow. As a father, I take pride in the accomplishments of my kids. I love to watch them grow and become wonderful adults. I look forward to watching my 8 grandchildren and all other grandchildren we may be blessed with grow as well.

Why I am a Mormon

My family came into the church when I was a young man, so the canned answer would be that I am a Mormon because I was raised to be. The truth of the matter is that my Dad has passed and Mom is 900 miles away and I still choose to be in church because i know it is what my Savior would have me do. I have been blessed to serve a mission in Japan and to share my beliefs with the wonderful people there. I have been given a wonderful family that I love deeply and I would not have lied to them and told them of the knowledge I have if it were not true. I believe that Jesus Christ paved a path for us to follow and that i am on that path. I believe that following the path of His Church is the straightest and most direct way to be able to return to live with Him for eternity. This path I try hard to follow is strict at first look, but so easy to follow because it keeps me from the addicting, hurtful and destructive influences that hold many down. i am on this path and I love where it is going.

How I live my faith

I think Jesus Christ taught us the importance of serving our fellow man. I enjoy that as I serve at the hospital. Sometimes we are blessed to serve outside of our circle as well. i was blessed to be elected as a county coroner. I was able to serve in that position for quite a few years. It sounds weird to some, but it was a way to use my education to help others. The serving with the dead is obvious, but i was also able to serve the families and loved ones of the deceased. Just in informing someone of an accidental death takes care and compassion. i was able to be a shoulder to cry on. I often would help the funeral home prep the deceased for identification of the body. The focus would be on letting them see the deceased in as natural of a way as possible so as to not further the shock. This service became a sacred trust with me and I feel blessed for the years I served.
