Hi I'm Rick

" Since I was a small boy , I have always loved building and creating things ." I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the oldest male of 17 brothers and sisters ! 4 of us full blood and 13 half blood ....WOW ! I grew up in the Catholic faith . I am definitely what you would call a type A personality . The best way to describe me would be ....125 miles per hour straight ahead , with my hair on fire ! I left home at 17 due to a problem with an abusive step father . I moved into my own apartment , and finished high school on my own , and took a couple night classes at the community college . By the time I turned 18 , I had already started my own company in construction.....38 years later , and I am still building and creating and still loving it ! I'm a border line neat freak . I love to work out , hike ,scuba dive, travel , boating , fishing ,working with and riding horses...in short anything that is out doors , that is why I live in the mountains........But mostly , I love to spend time with my wife ,kids and grand babies , they are my reason and my purpose !

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in school and active in sports, I had a few close friends who I admired because of the way they seemed to stand out. ( This was in the late 60's ,early 70's ) They were clean cut , great athletes , respectful , good students , always involved in family , scouting or their church . This really stood out to me , because I grew up in a large ,disfunctional family that was not close , loving , or happy . We went to church on holidays, and only when we had to. I would ask my buddies why they would always want to spend so much time with their families and church . It was fascinating and weird to me . They told me they were Mormons and that their church had a strong emphasis on family . As I spent time with them , I learned how real it all was for them and they were really happy. I saw what a family actually could be like with love and harmony in the home . A couple years after I left home, and my buddies went on their missions , I decided to get serious about investigating the LDS ( Mormon ) Church . At first I didn't study and pray to get an answer like I was challenged . I went thru 4 sets of missionaries and asked a lot of difficult questions over a couple years . But I never got my answer to be baptized until I humbled myself , read the Book of Mormon and sincerly prayed .....and when I did ,I knew without a shadow of doubt that the gospel was true and that if I wanted to find true happiness , I needed to change and be baptized . So I did ! And I found the happiness and purpose that my friends and their family had . For the last 36 years ,my lovely wife and I have raised our family centerd around Christ and his gospel , and we are all very close and happy !

How I live my faith

It is not hard for me to live my faith , because I have a deep conviction of it's truths, and because all we believe in , is centered around our Savior Jesus Christ . I also believe ,that to remain strong in my convictions , I must do as Christ has taught ....to be anxiously involved in good works, and be an example of him . In doing so , my wife and I help out at church , by teaching ,helping with youth programs , scouting , service to the needy and to our community, perform service at one of our Temples and sharing the Good News of Christ , His Gospel ! We have taught our children to do the same , and have involved them in service to the needy . It is a real joy to see them now raising their families with the same values !
