Hi I'm Kjarsta

I am a triathlete, an adolescent therapist, and a social worker. I am a mother, I am a wife and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Western Canada with a love of the Rockies bred into my soul. I am the oldest of 9 kids. I left home at age 18 to go to college. I earned an undergraduate degree in Social Work and continued on to get my Master's in Social Work because I wanted to empower people. I spent 18 months in London as a missionary for the LDS church and 6 months touring around France, Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg. I love hiking, participating in triathlons, reading, singing, playing the piano and planning events. I am currently planning a reunion for my mother's side of the family. I have worked as a Corporate Trainer, an Adolescent Wilderness Therapist, a Human Resources Specialist and now as a mother. Being a Mother is the hardest job I have ever held; it requires all of my time, resources, patience and love. But, being a Mother is also the most rewarding job I have ever done. I feel like my children give me the opportunity, every day, to be better. My children are so forgiving and they love me unconditionally. They are my example of what Christ taught I should be. My husband is a gem. He works hard to take care of us and together we are creating a family that will last forever. I am so lucky to be surrounded by my best friends - my parents, my brothers and sisters, my children and my sweet husband. I already have everything I could ever possibly want, I just have to keep it now by living like the Savior.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon makes me happy! I love Jesus Christ and I have learned so much about him through following a living Prophet and reading the scriptures. I particularly like to read the Book of Mormon because of the love I feel when I read it. God is love and I know that love comes from him. I want to be like Jesus because he loved everyone, he is the ultimate giver of everything that is good. I want to learn about Jesus Christ because then I become a better daughter and sister, a better friend and mother, and a better wife. I want to be the best person I can be and that will only happen as I follow Jesus Christ. I have found that being a Mormon teaches me to be like Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Living my faith, to me, means living in a way that keeps me close to God. I talk to God regularly; when I am on my knees or struggling to put a screaming child to bed, when I am about to eat my dinner or I am confronted with a problem I don't know how to solve. Prayer is my lifeline. When I pray, everything seems to go a little smoother and I feel a little more adequate to accomplish my day. Living my faith is staying connected to my Father in Heaven.
