Hi I'm Sofía

I was born and raised in México. I found the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the US. It changed my life forever. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a strong Christian family. I attended college and married during my senior year. We have little children and they keep us busy!! Before our first child was born I decided to become a stay at home mom. It is very rewarding. There are days when I miss working and earning money and recognition, but I truly enjoy the craziness of being at home with my children all day. We enjoy hikes, swimming, nature walks, gardening, biking, play dates, "cooking" (dirt and grass dishes), baking real food, watching the same childrens' videos over and over, singing, playing, and building houses out of pillows and blankets. We also enjoy participating in community events, and visiting older people. My husband and I decided to raise our children bilingual. That has proved to be lots of fun and very amusing. It really worked!!

Why I am a Mormon

Shortly after my family moved to the United States we met a Mormon woman. She invited us to Church. We were very curious to see what this religion was all about. My mother and I attended services and quickly started taking the missionary discussions. One thing I really liked about this Church was how happy people looked. Sincerely happy, not Sunday smile happy. Things were done in a very simple manner at Church. We started attending services regulary and reading the Book of Mormon. I sincerely wanted to know if the Book of Mormon was true. I read it and studied it intensely. I moved to an area where there were no missionaries nearby and continued on my quest to know if the Book of Mormon was true. One time in particular I knelt and prayed and remember feeling very strongly that God did know me personally, that He lives and is not some strange spirit out there. I felt His love as His daughter and that He cared for me. I also felt that Christ had sacrificed his life for me. I learned that there is a wonderful purpose for being here on earth. I felt an amazing feeling of peace in me and that yes, Joseph Smith really was a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is true. I decided then to be baptized. I moved back to where I was previously living and was baptized. I have learned so much from the scriptures. I truly believe that the Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints is God's Church upon this earth and that the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ is there available for anyone who wishes to partake of it. My life has greatly changed. I have peace, purpose, happiness. I know why I'm living on this earth and how to live my life so I can be with my family not just in this life, but forever. I love knowing that Christ came to the Americas after He was resurrected and that we have a living prophet on the Earth today!!

How I live my faith

My work in the Church is with the ladies over 18 years old. I teach a spiritual lesson once a month and also help plan monthly activities. We find activities that we would like to do as a group and I arrange for a person to teach or for a location where the activities will take place. I also visit a couple of sisters each month with my companion. My companion and I take a spiritual message to their homes. We share our message and look after the sisters' spiritual and temporal well-being.
