Hi I'm Travis Hartung

I was raised in Estacada, Oregon. I love cliff jumping and rafting. Prettymuch anything on a river. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

i was born into the LDS Church and have always been really active all my life. i am 22 years old, i have not had any college schooling yet, but i definatly plan on it in the near future. i was involved in scouting from 8 years old until age 18. i got my Eagle just before i turned 18, i loved scouts. really i love the outdoors, thats the best part. i love camping, sledding, hiking, snow caving, swimming, rafting and anything in the outdoors. I am currently working as a delivery driver/CPA (crew production assistant) at Ricks Custom Fencing and Decking in Gresham. i am recently married with no kids yet, but plan plan on having a few in the coming years. i am into sports as well, i did track and cross country through high school, and that was alot of fun. i was able to do what i wanted alot of the time, because i was a very obedient child and i gained the trust of my parents at an early age, and kept that trust through my life and i found it to be very helpful.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason that I choose to be a Mormon, would be based upon my understanding and testimony of God, and how he is a never-changing being. God is the same yesterday, today, and forver. Which makes me believe that if God were to establish his gospel on the earth thousands of years ago through a prophet, why would he do it any differently today? Has God abbandoned us? No, he has not. But God has once again reached out his loving arm to the children of men and has established his church through a prophet. Today we have a living prophet on the earth who acts as a steward to oversee the household of God on earth. Because we have a prophet today, worthy men can hold the Priesthood, and have the authority to act in Gods name for the salvation of his children. This means that the authority to perform sacred ordinances such as Baptism, give the gift of the HOly Ghost, administer the sacrament, and other sacred ordinances are once again on the earth. I believe that these things are essential to prepare ourselves to return to our Father in Heaven.

How I live my faith

My wife and I are currently serving in my ward as ward missionaries. Which means we basically help the full-time missionaries in the ward with lessons and helping them find more people to teach. At my work i try to be a good example and try to be as trustworthy as possible at all times. living in a smaller town with very few LDS members, it was up to me to set the example for Mormons for the youth my age. you would think that it would be difficult, but i have always known that the church is true and that i wanted to serve a mission in my future. so i made a promise to myself when i was young to do the best that i can to show people what i believed, and what the church is all about, by the way i lived. even though there weren't many LDS members my age, there were many younger ones in the church that i need to be an example for as well. almost as soon as i turned 12 i got an official important church calling, and always had one until i left for my mission. so it was important for me to always be involved with church and always attend my church meetings. i was also in the ward choir for most of my youth as well, i have always loved singing, so any chance i got sing, i took it. i love being a member of the church and having a calling, because it gets you involved in a good cause, there is always something more you can do, and someway you can grow in the gospel. it brings so much peace and meaning into my life that cannot be replaced with anything else in the world.
