Hi I'm Mercedes

I'm a student, frozen yogurt enthusiast, and lover of the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sunrise hikes, fresh groomed ski slopes, and pistachio ice cream. I'm a native Seattle-ite and a proud Seattle sports fan. I love good books, good music, and random dance parties with my crazy siblings. I studied at Brigham Young University for one year before leaving to serve a full-time mission for 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to wonderful parents who both have a strong testimony of the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I've gone to church ever since I was born and I was baptized when I was eight years old. I was raised Mormon. However, that is not why I am a Mormon today. I am a Mormon today because I have come to know for myself that nothing else in this world brings me as much happiness and joy as this Church. I didn't want to rely on my parents' testimonies, so I found out for myself. I studied, fasted, and prayed to know whether The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was God's true church on the earth today. My answer was an undeniable yes. That answer is reaffirmed every day as I thank my Heavenly Father for the gospel in my life to help me navigate the trials and temptations of this life. This world is full of pain and sorrow, but it is also full of joy and miracles. It is my experience that this church fills my life with that joy and those miracles more than anything else. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

The gospel of Jesus Christ is centered around love, and that is how I live my faith. Growing up going to a Catholic high school and working at a Harley-Davidson dealership, I've had the opportunity to meet all different kinds of people. I love being able to share experiences and find the things that bring us all together. We are all children of a loving Heavenly Father who wants us to return and live with Him. We are all on the same team, with the same end zone. I make mistakes every day, but that is how I learn. Every day is about trying to be better than yesterday. Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, our weaknesses can become strengths. We are heirs to the kingdom of God and we all have the potential to become like Him.
