Hi I'm Kate

I am a wife, a mother, a photographer, a quilter, a reader, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife to an amazing man and have 4 super kids. I love watching my children in all their activities; ie, soccer, band, track and field, and performing in theater productions. I love to take photos of beautiful places and people. I also love to make quilts and snuggling under those quilts with a good book, especially on a stormy day. I love and collect nativities, especially ornaments and have one tree dedicated just to those ornaments. I love decorating my home to make it feel inviting. I love learning and conversation with others that can teach me new things. I enjoy working in the dirt; planting and taking care of flowers and plants. I enjoy beautifying our yard with those plants and flowers and eating the vegetables grown in my garden. Life is great and I enjoy living. There is so much beauty around us, and I enjoy seeing new scenery and new places.

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon because of the truths that I find in the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Truths of why I am here on the earth, what I can accomplish, where I am going and who I am. I am a daughter of a loving Heavenly Father, who loves me and is personally aware of me. I see daily proof of His love. I can pray to Him and He listens. I have received answers to my prayers instantly and not so instantly. When those prayers are answered, there is a feeling that comes to my heart that reminds me that He knows who I am, He knows what I am feeling and what I am going through. He is not just my Father, but your Father as well. He loves all of His children. I am a child of God. You are His child too. He sent His loving Son to this earth to give us hope. He set an example for me to follow, to become more like Him. He suffered for the sins of all to bring them home to our loving Father. Having Jesus Christ as my Savior makes me want to be a better person. I want to be kinder, and more loving, and patient with others around me. He touches my spirit to remember to be that way. I am reminded to keep the Ten Commandments. If all the world kept those Ten Commandments the world would be a different place. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps me to be a better me. I have purpose. I have support. I have love. I have a Heavenly Father who knows and loves me. I also love going to church and being with others that feel as I do. There are many there that have become like family to me. We support and love each other. It is a comfort to know you are surrounded by people that are there to help. That is the reason i love being a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I go to church on a weekly basis. I love going and singing praises to my Heavenly Father. I lead the music in the general meeting called Sacrament meeting. I also teach a class on how to search out Ancestors and Family History. I enjoy meeting with the women of the Mormon church because we have a lot of fun together. The sisterhood we feel is wonderful. We get together and learn new things. Like : one week we got together and learned some recipes for throwing a party by one of the ladies who is a great baker. Another time we got together and tied quilts for the homeless. I even taught a class on how to take better photographs to some of the ladies who wanted to learn how. We had a cake decorating class once too. So many fun things together. I live far away from my real family and it is comforting to know that in an difficult time such as an emergency or an emotional need they will be there for me and I for them. They have become family. I also am particularly responsible for two sisters in my congregation. I sit with them on a monthly basis and share a Gospel message with them. I also see them on different days and go to lunch or call them. Some of these ladies have become my very best friends. I am encouraged to read the scriptures every day. And as a family to read together. We are not perfect at this. Sometimes, especially in the summer without a schedule we don't do it, but I can tell a difference in the family dynamics, when we do read together as a family. There is more love, and kindness. That matters to me. So we try as parents to include this study together. I know I am not perfect. I hope that you don't think I am, but I do like to think that I am trying to be a better person; the best I can be. On those days when I am not, I pray that I can be better and ask forgiveness from my Father in Heaven. I know that someday I will see Him again. I know He will put his loving arms around me and say, "Welcome home, my daughter!"
