Hi I'm Melissa.

I love creating: designing a cozy room, teaching a lesson, tweaking a song, perfecting a recipe, or envisioning a perfect outfit.

About Me

I'm a wife, a performer, a director, a designer, a reader, a cook, a decorator, an office manager, a baker, a friend, a singer. . . I taught high school Theatre and English for ten years. I love teaching in a secular or spiritual environment. I love people. I love music. I love to laugh. . .I love shoes.

Why I am a Mormon

Living the principles and standards of the gospel of Jesus Christ bring me the greatest happiness and safety. I know why I'm here on Earth, and where I'm going. I also know that I have endless numbers of people who are here to help me; helping me to be happy; helping me through difficult times; helping me to learn about cooking, baking, new books, exercise tips, etc. . .People are inherently good and interesting. Through this gospel, I've met and made friends with all kinds of people. Heavenly Father blesses us by placing people in our lives. Our experience is reciprocal: we enrich others and they enrich us. The Lord's way keeps us safe. Heavenly Father knows that addictions bind us and keep us from our full potential, so he's given us great counsel like the Word of Wisdom to help us not get ensnared in addictive behaviors. The atonement is real. Heavenly Father knows that because we are human, we aren't perfect. No matter what, we can choose to live the Lord's way and we can take the steps to make it back to Him. Again, he blesses us with caring individuals to help us get there. The Lord loves us and wants us to be so happy. Through his Gospel we can learn about ourselves and how our specific talents and gifts tie us to our Heavenly Father. While we sojourn on Earth we serve others, find happiness, and ultimately return to our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

My husband and I sing in the a cappella group ReUNION with six of our friends. We all went to the same high school in Colorado and were in the exclusive performing group, but at different times. We perform throughout our state for various occasions. Underatanding my own creativity helps me to understand Heavenly Father better because He is the ultimate creator. When I create I feel closer to Him and hope to help bring others closer to Him. I've had the opportunity to teach youth as a high school teacher and as an advisor to the 16-18 year old girls at church. This is a critical time in our lives and figuring out who we are and what we can be may be overwhelming. I am grateful that I had great role models and older friends to help me through this time of life. My dad died when I was in high school and life was topsy turvy for awhile. I had an incredible support system through all of this and know that Heavenly Father was mindful of my needs especially at this time. He blessed me with people who loved and cared for me. I hope to be one of those influences for the youth today.
