Hi I'm Natalie

I grew up in Florence, Kentucky. I love to laugh, I teach English to 7th and 8th graders, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I went to BYU and graduated in English Teaching. I teach 7th and 8th graders now because I think they're hilarious (your mom jokes and "Do you like me: check yes or no") and I'm too short to teach High School. I love reading, especially young adult literature. I married a hobby-enthusiast and have since adopted many hobbies such as: mountain biking, playing pinball, playing bass guitar, and skiing. We love to laugh, make popcorn, watch movies, and listen to records. I love life; it's fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because through the church's teachings, I have felt my Savior's love even in times when I've felt I didn't deserve it. I grew up in an LDS home, and I continue to follow Christ's gospel because I recognize the countless blessings He has given me. Following and living Christ's gospel brings me close to my Heavenly Father and Jesus, and being close to them brings me peace and confidence in myself. I know the Book of Mormon is true because of the way I feel when I read it. Like many others, there have been times when life has felt so hard and I've felt lost and alone. Turning to the scriptures and to prayer in those times, I always feel a thick blanket of peace wrap around me. I know that peace is my Savior's love. Knowing my Heavenly Father loves me has always been very important to me and I feel it through prayer, the scriptures, and in going to church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in small ways by going to church every Sunday and studying my scriptures daily. I like to read The Book of Mormon while I eat my breakfast; I feel it gives me an extra boost for the day - and I need it, teaching 7th and 8th graders! I recently had a calling in my ward teaching a 6 year old Sunday School class. It was so fun to hear their small and simple testimonies and to teach them about our Savior's love. They were so cute (and rowdy). The great thing about the Mormon church is how many opportunities there are to serve! I think every week there is an announcement about a service opportunity and I try to get in on those.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we don't worship Joseph Smith; we worship Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Just as there were prophets called in the Bible times, there are prophets called today to be a mouthpiece for the Lord. Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet and he did many important things to help restore Christ's full gospel on the Earth. We respect him and we are very grateful for his hard work and sacrifice, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less
