Hi I'm My Name is Debbie

I'm a Mormon. I'm now retired but I used to own a small business. I take care of my husband who is a disabled Vietnam Vet.

About Me

I was adopted when I was just 6 months old. I was raised in the Pacific NW and lived for a few years in Alaska. In college I majored in Forestry. I met my husband while attending college. We have two adult children and two grandchildren. We used to be avid motorcyclists but my husband who is a Vietnam Vet became ill and he could no longer ride. To replace our love of travel by motorcycle we bought a Vintage Blue Bird Wanderlodge. We are currently completing the remodeling and repairs and hope to be on the road next summer traveling to all the places in the USA and Canada we have never seen. In the meantime we spend lots of time with our family and our two dogs, a Basset hound and an English bulldog. I love to work in my large garden adding new plants each year and sharing seeds for new flowers and plants. In the winter time where we live, it gets very cold so I enjoy spending time reading or knitting by the fire. My husband and I enjoy visiting all of the church's historical sites like Nauvoo, Illinois, Palymra, NY, Salt Lake City, Utah. We are making plans to go to Missouri, Kirtland, OH and Vermont next year.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was raised and baptized a Lutheran and I always enjoyed attending church. After my adoptive parents divorced my father remarried to an inactive member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her children were active and I would attend church with them. Finally when I was 14 years old I met the missionaries for the first time and took the discussions. They answered all my questions about why we are here what is our purpose and where we are going after we die. I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and prayed about it and Joseph Smith Jr. I received such a strong testimony about the church that I asked to be baptized. I know this church is true. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is true. The Holy Ghost has witnessed the truthfulness of it to me. The more I study and learn the more I know that Joseph Smith Jr. was a prophet of God and that he translated the Book of Mormon, Another testament of Jesus Christ. As I continue to learn my faith in Jesus Christ grows.

How I live my faith

I help coordinate visiting teaching routes and who visits which sisters and I'm enjoying it. I have helped before with planning events and holiday activities for our Ward. I've also taught the girls from ages 8 to 12 years of age.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?
