Hi I'm Tanya Milburn.

I love life! I am a Scrabble fiend and an earth-loving pursuer of health; I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in physiology and Spanish. I have always loved learning and academic pursuits. I come from a family of six people, and my siblings are some of my best friends. I have been blessed with such a great family and great friends. I also love to ballroom dance and run for fun. I enjoy healthy living and improving the environment. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, so I love nature and the beautiful outdoors. I am a happy person, and I try to be optimistic about everything in life. I'm currently serving as a missionary in the Canada Edmonton Mission. Best mission in the world!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon, so as a child I learned that we have a Heavenly Father who loves us, and that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I'm a pretty ordinary person, but this knowledge makes my life extraordinary. I'm a Mormon because without faith in Jesus Christ, I would not have the strength and hope to become a better person each day. Without Jesus Christ, my life would lack meaning, direction, and joy. Like every person in this world, I have had to go through challenges and struggles that--on my own--would have destroyed me. I know that it is only through Jesus Christ that I am able to be healed on all levels. Simply put, I'm a Mormon because it enriches my life and fills me with happiness.

How I live my faith

To me, living my faith is much more than going to a Sunday meeting every week. I choose to follow Jesus Christ every day. I choose to study the scriptures that He has given us; I choose to be more like Him. Those choices are what make me who I am. I enjoy serving in my church any way that I can. God has blessed me with many talents and abilities, and I try to use them in a way that can help others. Sometimes I am a teacher for children or adults. Sometimes I am in charge of helping others when they are in need. Sometimes I help plan fun and social activities for members of my church. Every time I serve someone, it is an opportunity to grow and be taught. I have also chosen to serve a mission for 18 months where I will be teaching other people about Jesus Christ. This is one of the most meaningful sacrifices of my life because it is a very small way to show my gratitude for every thing God has given me. Since I have a knowledge of Jesus Christ that brings me so much joy, I can't help but want to share it in return.
