Hi I'm Devrin

I grew up the son of an Air Force Officer. I love international travel. I'm married with three amazing children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful woman and we have three beautiful children. I work in Finance at a high-tech fortune 500 company. Learning is my passion. I love to read and be exposed to new information, especially history and science. I also love all things international. My dream job would be to be paid to learn new languages. One of my greatest challenges was deciding what to do with my life because I'm interested in so many things. Although I love my career, I often wonder what it would be like to be in a different field. I coach soccer and serve in my church. Someday I would like to start a company that helps people learn how to effectively and responsively manage their personal finances because it will change their lives. I'm happy when I'm with my family, when I have enough time, when I'm watching a great sports event, or when I'm being touched by music or an inspiring story.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family, but becoming a member was still a choice I ultimately had to make. Many people talk about "gaining" a testimony or knowledge that the Church is true, but I would describe my experience more as "discovering" my testimony because I came to know that it was there all along. I really just had to go through the process of testing my beliefs and what I was willing to do for them. When I finally realized how I felt, it was a powerful experience, and one that was as distinct as being struck by lighting. That feeling has been followed up by countless experiences of faith that I can never deny. I'm a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and it contains the principles of a happy and fulfilling life.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints means striving to live a life that Christ would have us live. It means trying our best to follow His example. It certainly doesn't mean perfection is around the corner or even on the same continent, but it means I strive to be kind, fair, honest, and to be a person of integrity. It means I choose not to drink alcohol or use tobacco. It means I try to use clean language and think clean thoughts. Membership and marriage means absolute fidelity to my wife in all aspects. As a member I also serve others by fulfilling an assigned church responsibility. This job or "calling" requires commitment and sacrifice, but it is nothing compared to the rewards it brings. It allows me to interact with so many inspiring people and to see the power of service, the reality of miracles, and the transformation that the true gospel of Jesus Christ can have in the lives of individuals and families.
