Hi I'm Heidi

I'm a freshman in college. I'm an optimist. I love being around people. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a dedicated and competitive student. I try very hard in school, and actually enjoy it most of the time. I am currently attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I love to sing and enjoy listening to music. I am a prospective English Education major and love language arts.I find a lot of satisfaction in expressing myself, my creativity, and my imagination through entertaining poems and stories. My dream is to one day be a best-selling author. Something that some people may or may not find surprising about me is my love of people. Because I am reserved, I am definitely what one might consider a "quiet extrovert," and love being around my friends and family. I love to laugh and have fun with people I love. It is the best way for me to forget about the stress of the day and just have a good time.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are members, and so its just what I've known my whole life. I never had an amazing conversion experience, or really a time when I've truly doubted why I live the way I do. However, there have been so many times that I've knelt down and prayed to my Heavenly Father, and recieved the comfort of the Holy Spirit, and it fills my whole being until I don't need to worry about what is happening now or coming next because I know that I'm being watched after and taken care of by a loving Father in Heaven. I've also felt this same spirit during so many different areas of my life. One of which being when gospel doctrine is being expressed through music. It just fills my soul with such peace and hope, and touches me in a way words cannot. Furthermore, as I've studied the scriptures, I've recieved answers to questions both about religious contexts, and also my own personal life. It is through all of these small, simple experiences that I have the courage, faith, and strength to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These moments when the spirit witnesses itself to me build up my testimony and give me the ability to continue living up to my standards. Because of the love I feel from my Father in Heaven and my Savior, I choose to be a member of the only true church on the earth today.

How I live my faith

I participate in church choir and currently serve on a committee that encourages active participation in our church through missionary work. But really, I just try to be a friend to everyone like the Savior would do. I love to include others that my often be left out and I love serving anyone in the community. I know that Jesus Christ showed his love to others through service, so that is also what I strive to do. I also set high standards for myself like not swearing or speaking profanely, dressing modestly, having clean thoughts, and not partaking of things such as drugs and alcohol that can hurt my body. Keeping these standards brings me happiness and joy. I read my scriptures and pray everyday so I can grow closer to God, and become more like him. I try to do what I feel will lead me to a greater understanding of righteousness.
