Hi I'm Roxy Pace Seligman!

I'm from Texas & live in Anacortes! I'm happily married & love my family! I love life & people. I'm a Realtor & I'm a Mormon!

About Me

As a child who grew up in a small Texas town in the desert, I never quite envisioned living on a lush island in Washington state, and I certainly never heard of a Mormon! I never doubted that I was a Child of God and I went to church all my life. I was christened and baptized in several churches, a member of many and a visitor to a long list of different churches in Texas. I diligently searched for the true church to answer the big questions of "who am I?", "where did I come from," and "where am I going?." Although " I was lookin' for love in all the wrong places," I earnestly prayed for a very long time for Heavenly Father's help in finding my soul mate. With my list of 75 qualifications for my man, a quantum growth in my faith, a promise to change my ways in exchange for seeking the Lord's will, Heavenly Father blessed me with "my twin flame." He gallantly flew down to Texas to get me and to take me home to a beautful island in the Puget Sound! Shortly thereafter, we found the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Married by a bishop and sealed in the Seattle Temple, we are blessed with a beautiful family of three daughters, one son-in-law and three grandchildren. Being together, working and serving the people in our wonderful community and church family brings us joy. Home is our peaceful haven with heavenly views of the San Juan Islands and Olympic Mountains where we love to be with our family and share our blessings with others. It's a good life!

Why I am a Mormon

Heavenly Father REALLY got my attention when he answered my prayers by sending me the love of my life! In return I had promised to "change my ways" and "to seek His will." And the two of us continued to pray together and to search the Holy Bible. By studying, we became aware our lifestyle was not pleasing to Heavenly Father. We wanted to be together forever. We had experienced many different Christian religions, all of which couples marry "til death do us part." We were confused that there were no prophets or apostles on the earth today. Why would Heavenly Father leave us without prophets to continue giving us guidance? And where is that Holy Ghost? On one of our trips from Texas, we stopped at Temple Square in Salt Lake City hoping to go to the temple which was not possible. We went on to the Visitor Centers to watch every video, collect all pamphlets, and Books of Mormon. I read outloud on the long drive to Washington. Our interest in Mormonism was piqued but we could not find Mormons or missionaries anywhere on our island! Finally we heard that Mormons owned the local video store, but they refused to lend or rent the videos behind the counter that were "reserved for members of the church." Being denied temple entrance and video rental REALLY made us curious! Because we smoked, drank, partied, and knew little about Jesus Christ, we took a step back to figure out how we could enter "the secret society." For weeks, we studied the doctrines of many Christian churches. Knowing the Lord wanted us to tithe, we mailed our tithes to a former church. That night I prayed to the Lord on my knees. Although waves were loudly crashing on the bulkhead, I heard a still small voice, "Roxy, you tithed to the wrong church! You know the true Church of Jesus Christ!" I then knew! Finally baptized, we found the RESTORED CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST, the Book of Mormon, companionship of the Holy Ghost, a forever family, and prophets and apostles to guide & teach us!

How I live my faith

Living my faith is helping me become the person that my Heavenly Father wants me to be. I love the Lord and want to please Him! As I learn about the commandments, I strive to live them. When I live them, I become more like my Savior in my thoughts and deeds. His Spirit is with me and I am joyful, peaceful, confident, knowledgeable, and I am inspired! Most importantly, I am useful in helping others and I then know that I am assisting the Lord in building His Kingdom. And then, there are the blessings! As I strive to serve Him, He pours his blessings upon me in abundance and answers my prayers in wonderful ways! I am overwhelmed with His blessings! And I have joy and FUN! In the Lord's church, we are not paid with money for our service but we are rewarded in more meaningful ways. In our church we receive callings which are assignments or positions that the Lord calls us to do for Him. Fulfilling callings and living the commandments is a choice. I am happiest when I am serving the Lord. I have served Him in my callings by serving others by being a member missionary, a visiting teacher, working with the sisters and with the youth. I have worked in organizing activities, giving talks, teaching, community service and a myriad of service activities which have taught me wonderful things and great lessons! I love to share the Gospel! Seeing how the gospel changes lives is exciting! My husband and I can't wait to go on fulltime missions! The greatest work my husband and I do for the Lord is within the walls of our own home in serving and teaching our family the Lord's commandments. Daily we have personal and family prayer, scripture study, family home evenings, family outings and vacations. It is our joy and privilege to help one another work through our challenges. Building our eternal family and service in the Lord's temple the most rewarding work and brings us the most peace, joy, comfort, and inspiration. We are so happy to be Mormons!
