Hi I'm Clarence

I grew up in the Idaho Falls area, served a mission in Seoul Korea, work for Boeing designing IFE systems. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of three awesome children and married to a wonderful wife. My family is the most cherished item in this world. I am an engineer by profession. I love being around airplanes and flying, so naturally I work for the Boeing Company. I design the most flight critical system on the airplane. I'm not talking the wings or engines. I design In-Flight Entertainment Systems. I am a University of Washington grad of nearly 20 years. I love being around family and friends. During my free time, I enjoy hiking, camping, and playing and watching football.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all my life and I love the family and personal values that the church teaches. We read in the scriptures: “And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins” (2 Nephi 25:23, 26). We also read that "Adam fell that man might be and men are that they might have joy." (2 Nephi 2:25). The beautiful part of the Mormon church is that it teaches us the purpose of life: 1) Where did we come from prior to this world? 2) What is the purpose of this earthly existence? 3) What becomes of us after this earthly existence? The answers to these thought provoking questions are found in God's Plan of Happiness. The central figure in the Plan of Happiness is Jesus Christ and his atonement. I am a Mormon because of the love and appreciation that I have for my Savior, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As a youth, I loved learning from the scriptures and hearing the wonderful message that had been preserved and handed down from scholars and prophets. I had the chance to attend four years of seminary and learn from the Old Testament, New Testament, the Book of Mormon and Church History. The message was clear, "Come Follow me, the Savior said." Prophets from Adam on down to our day have always had one message: Follow the Savior. When I turned 19 years old, I had a great opportunity to share my knowledge of the scriptures and love for the Savior as a missionary. I served as a missionary in Seoul, Korea from 1988 to 1990. At the time, learning Korean seemed like an impossible task, but the Lord blessed me in my efforts and I was able to fulfill a successful mission where I met numerous wonderful children of God and bring them to a knowledge of the Plan of Happiness (Salvation). Currently, I live my faith by trying to follow the example and teachings of Jesus Christ. I try to be the kind of husband and father that He would want me to be. A modern-day prophet revealed "No Success in Life can compensate for failure in the home." (President David O. McKay 1873-1970). What a beautiful quote to keep our life and priorities grounded and in line with the Saviors message. I enjoy volunteering and providing service in the community. In the church I work closely with the adults of ages 20 to 60. I serve as Elder's Quorum President where I get to meet and help many members of the church progress in their knowledge of Christ and develop the love for Christ and understanding of the mission of Christ. This has been a wonderful experience as I get to associate with these outstanding children of God. I love to see their excitement about what they learn. I really enjoy visiting people in their homes and discussing the great truths of the gospel and how they bless their lives and bring peace and joy.
