Hi I'm Nathan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student right now and my major is International Studies with my minor in Spanish. I really enjoy hearing about different cultures. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I am young and I don't often have the money to do it but when I see opportunities to go and do things that are unique I try and take them. I am currently teaching English in China and am LOVING it. I love being around younger students. They are always way fun and they just have a way different view on life, which helps me to see things in different ways. My favorite class in college was my world religions class. I think that says a little about me and how I enjoy seeing other perspectives and the similarities in different philosophies. I enjoy fishing and playing sports such as volleyball and football. I also like to snowboard (even though I'm not very good) and I like to read books. I am from a family of 5. I am the oldest of my younger brother and sister. It seems like the further time goes on the more I care for them. Its been really cool to watch them grow and have them become great examples in my life for the things they overcome and do.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I came to a point in my life where I needed to make a decision. I had been living off my parents for the earlier part of my life and was wondering if it was something that I should keep doing as my life goes on. I noticed that being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was a little demanding at times. I wondered why that was. As I left my parents house and ventered off into the world I dove into the scriptures. I wanted to know for myself that it was true or not. If I didnt find that it was true then I would leave that way of life and began a new one that brought me more happiness. I read of the examples of the prophets in the scriptures and how each of them gained their testimony of Jesus Christ. I learned for myself by following their words and experiment upon the word of Christ. I began to repent in my life and change it so I was in line with the principles that were taught to me since I was a little kid. I noticed the change that it brought to how I felt about myself and about others. The love that I felt for those around me grew inmensly. I came to some points during that time where I was struggling with some trials. I decided that if these principles that I was studying were true, then I would apply them and see the blessings that came from them. I prayed, I studies, and I acted on the feelings I received through the spirit. I know that this church is true and that Jesus is the Christ. I know that because I have seen his hand come into my life from time to time and guide me. I have felt of his healing powers through the fact that I repented of my sins and replaced those things with actions of bringing myself unto Christ. I know his atonement has healed me in my life. I know The Book of Mormon was what had taught me the principles that I needed to know to receive this testimony. I know Joseph Smith received and answer to his prayers. These things have played a huge part in my life and I am eternally grateful for them

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying the scriptures and diving into the best books I can find. I continue practicing the principles of the gospel such as faith and repentance. I am currently in China so the members here all come together and we have our own church meetings. I have been called to be a leader of our little group of 6 members. I organize our church meetings and make sure that everyone is happy. China is currently closed right not to christian missionaries so we all stick together and try to live the best christian lives that we can. I finished serving a 2 year mission a little more than a year ago and I try to keep in contact with the people I came in contact with while I was there. Like I said earlier I try and base my life on practicing faith in Jesus Christ and coming unto him in repentance. I sometimes find myself in need and it is great to have friends and family that can remind me of the things that matter most and be there for me those times.
