Hi I'm Laurie

My 3 year old says I like to buy stuff, watch HGTV and swim. I think she nailed it! I'm also a writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the mother to three amazing girls and have been married to my awesome husband for 13 years. I enjoy writing, home decorating, vacationing (especially at the beach!), reading and going to the movies. I volunteer at my girls’ school, which I love and now that my youngest is in preschool, I even get a little time to myself which I love too! I’m not very crafty but I do enjoy sewing home projects and I even just finished my first quilt which ONLY took me 3 years to finish! I also enjoy cooking and baking.

Why I am a Mormon

I can’t imagine my life without The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I find immense joy and strength knowing that God knows me and loves me, that Christ atoned for me and that the family unit carries on into the eternities. I have had a lot of trials in my life, like we all do, but knowing that God has a plan for me and my family makes all of life’s little (and big) bumps and detours doable because having faith in Christ doesn’t mean we don’t have trials, it just gives me the ability to get through them with an attitude of gratitude. God knows what I can handle so if I just trust in him then I can get through anything. Also knowing that my family can be together forever helps me in times of grief.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I hold socials for new members that have just moved in or just been baptized. I am really grateful for wise leaders who asked me to do this job because it stretches me. I am not normally the type to be outgoing and say hello to new people but this job has helped me to make new friends and reach out to those who need a friend. Mostly though, I live my faith by being kind, understanding and loving towards my family, friends and neighbors. When I find myself down or sad I often try to look for opportunities to serve others. By doing this and acting as His hands I find that I am uplifted as much as the person that I served! I am not perfect, in fact I am FAR from it, but one thing that I do is to always have some goal to strive for, whether it is reading my scriptures more often, praying regularly, being nicer to my kids, serving others, or being more grateful… I figure as long as I am striving to be more Christlike then eventually I’ll get there!
