Hi I'm Kristen

I'm a Mormon and just like everybody else.

About Me

Well, first of all I have a little bother, both of my parents, a Grandma and a Grandpa, 3 girl cousins and since my great grandmother had 5 girls a whole bunch of boy cousins. My family on my mom's side is the best because they all like to stay close to each other. An example is every Easter, and Christmas we have this huge Family get-together where everyone that is in our family goes to my Aunt Liela's house to meet up. I am going to Paradise Valley High School and I am a Sophomore that is loud, funny, happy, and easy to talk to. The second thing you should know about me is I am a normal human being just like everybody else. The third thing you should know about me is I have never judged anyone unless they are rude to me. I don't have a boyfriend because I am not allowed to date till' age 16. Yes I'll admit it is very hard for me not to like someone and stuff but I have already made up my mind that my 16th Birthday is the one and only day that I'm going start dating. Trust me girls it saves you a lot of heart break.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? When I was a baby my parents used to take me to church then stopped when I was about 9 months old. Even though I didn't go to church my parents made sure that I knew the importance of The Lord and Jesus Christ and what he did for me. They also taught me to pray every day, night, and meal. I didn't go back to church until I was ten when my Aunt and Uncle took me on occasional visits. After I had told my parents how much fun I had in Primary, Sacrament, and Sunday-School they decided to go with me one Sunday. After a couple of weeks my parents realized how much I loved church and decided to keep going. Later around my Birthday I was baptized in April. Getting baptized is just like being cleaned again and all of you sins are washed away. I also like this church because of the good morals it teaches me. For those of you that don't know lds members are the same thing as Mormons. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Every Wednesday I go to Young Women's. Young Women's is a special program that helps young women develop skills that we can use when we are married have kids and a husband to take care of. It isn't just some thing that is fun or spiritual we actually get to have friendly competitions like cupcake wars, or soccer. Anything you can think of that is fun we love to do it. We also have this thing called Girls Camp where we go up to Payson and camp for three days. Its a very good bonding time for all of the girls and leaders including me. Anyone out there who has been invited should definitely come if they have nothing to do at 7:00 p.m.

What is being a Mormon like?

One of the greatest reasons for being here on earth is to "have joy" (2 Nephi 2:25). Personal prayer, scripture study, and attending church helps us better understand that the best way to find joy and happiness in this life is to know about Our Heavenly Father's Plan of Happiness, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to strive to keep God's "law" (Proverbs 29:18). Families are an essential part of God's Plan and much of how we live focuses on our families. We want to share the happiness we enjoy with everyone we can through service, missionary work, and contributing to society. Show more Show less

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

In 1838, Joseph Smith was told in a revelation that the Church should be called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Doctrine and Covenants 115:4). The Church has been known by that name since that time. Gordon B. Hinckley, prior President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has emphasized the Church’s correct name, saying: “We believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God. The official name of the Church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and He is the central figure in all of our worship. “The Church carries the name of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Redeemer of the world. It is His name by which this Church is officially called. “As for the term Latter-day Saints, members of the Christian Church anciently were called Saints (see Acts 9:32, Ephesians 2:19, Philippians 1:1). They were former-day Saints. We are the Latter-day Saints. It is that simple. “We are frequently called Mormons. It is a nickname given us because we believe in the Book of Mormon as the word of God, a book which goes hand in hand with the Bible, becoming a second witness for Jesus Christ.” Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Being prepared for potential emergencies helps us to become self-reliant. Becoming self-reliant provides more personal independence, industry, thrift and self respect. It also gives more opportunity to serve and care for others in need. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Our Modern Day Prophet is Thomas S. Monson. Not only does he teach us to do the right thing he also speaks in General Conference. General Conference is held 2 times a year. This is normally the time when he tells us what is needed to fulfill our purpose on this earth. The prophet is a very loving and understanding person. I've never met the prophet but when I do I will be sure to tell him how much I appreciate his teachings. Show more Show less
