Hi I'm Dakota

I grew up in Seattle and I have a love of the outdoors and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I started life back in the woods of Northern Montana with my father who was a logger. When the saw mills closed we moved to Seattle where the most beautiful place in the world is located when it is not raining. I now live in Colorado and love the people and ability I still have to be out in the woods. I enjoy camping, hiking, and any outdoor activity done in all 4 seasons. I have a hard job managing a fleet of drivers 12 hours a day starting at 4:30am and leaving enough time to play with my kids when I get home as well as complete my own projects and get enough sleep for the next day. It seems that we are always going to the doctors for the kids being sick or to the dentist. I do not make enough for all the bills but somehow we survive.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up as a Mormon I have never been inclined to be anything other then what I am but I will have to also say that every one that is a Mormon still has to be converted at some point. By this I mean that everyone that is a member has to find out for themselves if this is where they are to be. For me I did this at an early age and confirmed it again at the end of high school when on a walk through the woods I decided to pray with the intent that I would receive an answer to my problems at the time. As I did so I felt a flooding of peace and love from some invisible force that told me that I was loved and that I was making choices that was taking me in the right direction. This was the answer I needed at a time when I felt so low. Even though I had always believed that there was a father in heaven it was this moment that I knew he was aware of us as individuals and wanted each and every one of us to progress to become like him. If you are a good successful father is it not natural that you want your children to become like you? I am a Mormon because I know through research and prayer that the fulness of the gospel set up by Jesus Christ restored by Joseph Smith in this last dispensation is here on the earth and that I am part of that church that maintains that the family is the center of why we are here on this earth. I love my family and being a Mormon provides me with tools to keep us together.

How I live my faith

Although work takes 12hours of my day from me I still make time to play with my kids and to make learning experiences out of all the situations life takes us through. To me my family is my greatest treasure and I want to be able to give guidance from lessons learned from my own life set with backing from what we read in the scriptures. Scripture study is very important to me as there is so much to learn and so little time to do it in. I love teaching and at church I have a wonderful group of students who have a combined vast amount of knowledge and skill that I get to learn from as well. I see church life as a branch of my own family as I learn from others who face trials and overcome them. I think that this life is a time for us to learn all that we can, learn from and overcome mistakes and take care of those within our sphere of influence.
