Hi I'm Joyce

I grew up in Tekamah Ne, 1of 18 children. I have served missions in Arizona & Chicago. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I have 17 siblings, 12 older than me, and 5 younger than me. We had a big family. I have three children and six grandchildren and one great grandchild. I have been in college for a total of four years and I love to learn. My favorite thing to learn about however, is my Savior Jesus Christ. I have served two missions for the church, inviting others to come closer to Christ, one in Arizona and one in Chicago. I like to smile, laugh, and enjoy life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by some neighbors who invited me over while they had some missionaries over for dinner. I then talked to the missionaries, and learned about the church. I was fascinated with indians before this, and always wondered how the indians came to the America's. When I found out the Book of Mormon was a recorded history of the native american's, I knew it was true. I was then baptized by one having the priesthood authority of God. I love the gospel and it makes me happy would love to share it with everyone. I love my Savior and wish that everyone would come to know Jesus and the gospel the way I have.

How I live my faith

Part of the genius behind our church is the lay ministry. The church relies on the congregation to hold "callings" or assignments to help the church function. These callings have been the basis of how I have lived my faith over the years. I know that faith is made perfect through action, and as I have taught classes to the members, served in other ways, and attended church, my faith has grown. I have talked about my callings to everyone who will listen and wish for them to come to love the Lord as I do. I have served in teaching both the youth and adult classes and have found it to be very fulfilling both spiritually and mentally. I recently taught in the nursery (todler) class, and they taught me as much as I taught them.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Joyce
The Book of Mormon was written on golden plates, or thin sheets of gold, by prophets in ancient time. Nephi is the first person who writes in the Book of Mormon, but he is writing for his father, Lehi, who is the prophet at the time. It starts about 600 B.C. and after Nephi died he passed the gold plates down to the next prophet; it got passed down from prophet to prophet until finally it got to Moroni. Moroni is the last prophet who writes in the Book of Mormon and died about 421 A.D. but leaves us with a promise just before he dies. He tells us that if we read and pray about the Book of Mormon sincerely, we can know by the power of the Holy Ghost that it is true (Moroni 10:4-5). I have taken Moroni's challenge to read and pray the Book of Mormon, and I can truly say that I know that the Book of Mormon is true. Show more Show less
