Hi I'm Thomas

I'm a husband, I'm a father, I'm a prosecutor and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the redwood forests of northern California, but I now call the Arizona desert home. My wife and I have two young children who humble us often and amaze us daily. I was a missionary in Brazil for two years and then completed college in Utah. Since law school I have worked as a criminal prosecutor, working every day to better my community. I enjoy traveling with my family and watching movies.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was raised in the church, there was a day shortly after leaving home to start college that I realized I needed to know for certain if what I had been taught my whole life was true. I felt like I was starting my own life and I needed to be sure I was on the right path. So I prayed to ask God if the Book of Mormon was His word and if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was His church. I'll never forget the feeling of the Holy Ghost speaking to my soul, confirming in my heart that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that the church was true. That and many other personal experiences since then have solidified my belief that Jesus Christ is my savior and the savior of all mankind, that the original Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to the earth and that church is lead today by a living prophet. One of the most important parts of the restored gospel to me is the knowledge that we are all children of God and that He loves each one of us more than we can imagine. To know that we lived with God, our Heavenly Father, before we were born and that He wants more than anything for us to live with Him again after this life, is comforting and helps me to keep perspective when the troubles of life seem too much to bear. Knowing where we came from, why we are here and where we are going gives me confidence and helps me focus on what really matters in life. Maybe the most comforting and compelling teachings of the restored church to me is that I can live with my family forever if we each keep God's commandments. To know that I can be with my wife and children forever is the greatest joy I can imagine. It resonates in my soul and I know it is part of God's plan of happiness for all of His children on the earth.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every day and do things that will help me feel closer to God and Jesus. I work to teach my children the things I believe in the hopes that they will feel the peace I do in trying to follow Jesus' example. We worship at church together, pray together, study the scriptures together and work to treat each other with kindness. I presently serve in the mens organization in my local congregation, learning together how to be better husbands, fathers and followers of Jesus. Additionally, I am assigned to watch after a few specific families from the congregation, regularly visiting them in their homes to make sure their basic needs are being met and to share a spiritual message with them. I am also currently organizing a service project for my congregation to help clean a local cemetery. These opportunities to serve help me grow and feel closer to God.
