Hi I'm Rick

I am married. I have 3 children and 8 Grandchildren. I am a Software Engineer and I like wood working. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have 3 children. They all grown and out of the house, for now. We have 8 grandchildren. I am a software engineer. That is a fancy name for a computer programmer or developer. My father was in the military. We travel alot when I was young. I did attend Elementary, Junior High, High School and College in San Antonio. We love this city and the unique multi-cultured community. I like wood working. We like going to Canyon Lake. We have a couple of Jet Skis. They are fun. My wife and I enjoy riding our bikes on the Leon Creek trail.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a wonderful Christian home by very good parents and family. I was raised Methodist. After College, I had two young men come to my door. They asked me, "What do you know about the Mormons?" I was surprised that as a college graduate, my knowledge was very little as any at all. I listened to their message and decided to do what they asked; 1) Read the Book of Mormon, 2) Pray to Heavenly Father to know if it is true, 3) Attend Church Services. I was very happy with my life as it currently was defined. I had a loving family. I did not want to jeopardize my relationship with them in any way. When I submitted my will to Heavenly Father’s will, I came to understand that the Latter-day Saint Church contain the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed today. My changes of heart resulted in my trusting that my family loves me. For that reason, they will respect my choice. The results have been a life full of happiness and love.

How I live my faith

I have found that loving and being involved with your family while providing service to your fellow man and keeping the commands is the best way to live. I am continuously in activities with my immediate and extended family. I work with the young men and women at Church. Boy Scouts of America is the primary young men program that provides growth to young men’s faith, character and prepares them for life's challenges. I try to keep the commandments of God and allow all men to live as their consciences leads them.

In whom should we have faith?

Rick
In order to come closer to Heavenly Father and receive all the blessings that He has for you, you must first develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Apostle Peter taught that “there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). Faith in God is more than a theoretical belief in Him. To have faith in God is to trust Him, to have confidence in Him, and to be willing to act on your belief in Him. It is a principle of action and power. Show more Show less

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Rick
Being prepared for potential emergencies helps us to become self-reliant. Becoming self-reliant provides more personal independence, industry, thrift and self respect. It also gives more opportunity to serve and care for others in need. Show more Show less
