Hi I'm Dan

I'm a Mormon and an instructor. I teach first aid/cpr, how to drive forklifts and cranes.

About Me

I have a wonderful wife I met at church 3 grown children and almost 13 grandchildren. Being a grandparent is great. I would tell you I have the best grandkids but that might start an argument. We love to travel but so far our travel has only been in the United States. One of my favorite road trips was New England in the fall. Some day will hope to go to Europe. I like to take pictures although I hardly print the pictures they are fun to look at. I have 3 brothers, one that is still alive. Our mother died when I was 5 and with my 1 year old brother we moved with our Aunt and Uncle in Oklahoma, My older brother moved to Arizona and our 2 week old brother moved to California. About 3 years later our dad remarried and the 3 oldest moved back with our dad and stepmom. Our youngest was adopted by our Aunt.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandparents (my dad's side) were LDS. My dad did not stay active in the church but after my dad remarried after the loss of our mom, he, my stepmom and my 12 year old brother took the missionaries lessons. I sat and listened also but I wasn’t 8 yet so my stepmom and brother were baptized. When I turned 8 I was baptized too. I knew there was a God and that he loved me. I have felt that my whole life. While attending the LDS church I have learned a lot in classes, reading the scriptures and prayer. Our family has been blessed in many ways and I recognize these blessings come from our Heavenly Father. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since I was eight years old. I have learned much about Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven. I continue to learn from the scriptures and by attending church. I feel kind of like a convert in that later in my life maybe around 25 years old I gained a stronger testimony and I had a change in my life that I wanted to live the gospel of Jesus Christ and to serve others. Jesus lived his life in the service of others and teaching us to serve. One of my favorite stories is Luke 10 of the Good Samaritan. I find that I feel a lot of joy when I help others. I don’t help other people in hopes of something in return, I just hope maybe some time when they can they will help someone else. I am a Mormon because I believe Jesus Christ lived on this earth and he died for us. He paid for our sins if we will repent and live his commandments, in doing so we will be able to live with him and our Father in Heaven. They make it possible because of their love for us to return to them.

How I live my faith

I serve in my ward (or congregation) as a counselor with our Bishop who is the leader. Our ward is for Young Single Adults (YSA) with one of the main purposes is to bring them closer to Christ. Besides the Sunday meeting on Monday night the church has set aside for families and those YSA without families still meet together to have lessons, socialize, and play games. We have other opportunities for socializing and having fun. One night during the week is our activity night in which we play games, sports, and other fun activities. One night a month is our Ward Activity and we usually have a dinner and do something fun. We also have service projects to help and serve others.
