Hi I'm Heather

I'm a wife and a mom to 3 boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a military family, moving every few years. Constantly moving made me rely on my family and come to love them as my best friends. I graduated college with a degree in teaching special education students. I married a fellow military-brat who was in the military himself so the tradition of moving continued. After teaching elementary students for a few years, I retired from the classroom to teach my own children. We have 3 rambunctious and imaginative boys who challenge, teach, exhaust and amaze me everyday. I love being home with them. We recently moved to an acreage in the mid-west and love it. I love life. I love to learn and to teach. I'm currently working towards my certification to be a Professional Childbirth Educator. I love being with my family, reading, baking, the beach, and Texas barbecue. I'm trying to learn to love running and organizing. Everyday (even the chaotic and difficult ones) I feel grateful for the hope and perspective the gospel of Jesus Christ brings to my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was taught by loving parents who come from Mormon pioneer ancestors, but my own personal spiritual experiences, not my parents', have led me to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ. As a child I learned the power of prayer. As a teenager I felt the Holy Ghost witness to me that the Book of Mormon is true and that the Lord loves and is aware of me. As a young adult I felt the hand of the Lord guiding my life as I sought His help and learned how the Spirit speaks to me. As a wife to a deployed soldier, the Holy Ghost carried me through a difficult year of single-parenting and filled me with hope as I lost myself in Church service. My testimony of the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a culmination of each spiritual experience I've had. I love knowing that constant improvement, eternal progression, is possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. There is hope and motivation to move forward, to be a little better each day. I love the standards taught by the church which provide a framework for raising strong children in a difficult world. I know that a loving Heavenly Father is aware and involved in the details of our lives.

How I live my faith

I currently teach a group of enthusiastic 3 year olds in my church group.
