Hi I'm Dan

I'm a Mormon. I live in Arizona and work as an independent insurance agent.

About Me

I am a small business owner in Mesa and employ about 40 people in the independent insurance agency I own with 4 other partners. Most importantly I am a husband to a wonderful woman for over 37 years now. We are parents of 5 great children, 3 boys and 2 girls, all of which are over 21. And we are grandparents to 6 grandchildren. It is wonderful! I love to do woodworking when I have the time. I love watching most major sports and wish I could still participate in some, but the mind being willing, unfortunately the flesh is weak.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in the church mostly here in AZ. My parents were terrific examples of living the gospel daily. I always believed the church was true growing up and never questioned it. I am the youngest of 7 with 5 older brothers who all served missions for the church. When it was my turn I too served a mission in Idaho & Utah. I was called to the Idaho Pocatello mission in 1975, but after 6 weeks in Boise was transferred to South Ogden Utah to open a new area with a brand new missionary. Two months later it was announced that there was now a full time mission in Utah, the first ever, and I was fortunate to be one of the 50 or so to be in that mission. It was early in my mission that a realized I had never actually done for myself what I was challenging many other to do, I had never prayed and ask for a confirming witness of the Spirit that his church was true, that Joseph Smith was who he claimed to be, and had seen what he claimed he saw, that the Book of Mormon was in fact true, and that this church was actually the true church of Jesus Christ. I began to pray intently as i studied each day that I would have the confirming witness we promised others if they read and prayed. Within days I began to have feelings I had never before experienced that in fact it was all true. I did not see an angel, nor did I have some marvelous spiritual confirmation of a burning in my bosom. What i received was a distinctive peaceful feeling of clam and assurance that what I had been taught and believed all my life was in fact true. What I was teaching others as a missionary was in fact the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Since those days some 36 years ago, I have had literally hundreds of additional spiritual confirmations of the truth of this gospel, some more profound than others but all un mistakable. With all of these experiences I can tell you that I know this church is the true Church of Jesus Christ and is led by a living prophet who speaks to and for God.

How I live my faith

I have had so many opportunities to serve in the church in many different assignments. Most of my adult life has been working with the youth of the church in many different ways. I have been able to teach the youth and adults most of those years which I love to do, not that I am some great teacher, but the preparation to teach each time is so wonderful. I currently serve as a bishop in the church which is like a minister of a congregation in my local area. It is the most challenging assignment I have ever had, but is also so very rewarding. I strive to live the gospel daily and encourage all around me to do the same. It is wonderful to serve others and to find ways to encourage, lighten their burdens, and to try to do the things for others that I feel the Savior himself would do if he were here. That is truly who I represent in my service today. I am certainly still learning how to be a better servant of the Lord as I interact with the people I have a stewardship for in my area.
