Hi I'm Cindy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in a family of 5 brothers and 2 sisters kept life busy and a bit chaotic. I married a "Texan" with a wonderful and enduring "drawl". We have 4 daughters, 3 sons-in-law, and 4 of the most beautiful grandchildren. I have been a cosmetologist, worked in hospitals, doctors and dentist's offices, and now I'm a realtor. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, baking, creating, and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of the church. By living the gospel I have come to know for myself that it gives me inner peace and gives me direction on the things that are most important in life. I know that each of us are loved by our Heavenly Father and we each have an important mission to fulfill while we are here on earth.

How I live my faith

While living in Texas my family experienced many hurricanes. During one of the hurricanes our neighborhood had around 300 flooded homes. Our home didn't flood so we were able to have neighbors literally come to our home for refuge from the storm. We were able to gather and organize dozens of neighbors and members of our church together to move neighbors belongings either out of their homes or into the 2nd story of their homes as the water rose all the way to the top story of their homes. For many days we tore out sheet rock, carpet and took belongings out so that repairs could begin and fed neighbors and workers for several days during the clean-up. I watched as my husband caught garbage bags filled with clothes and other necessities being thrown from the top of a rooftop by a neighbor and then because the current of water was so strong my husband tied a rope around his waist and that of some children as he led them to safety. It was a time our neighbors banded together to help each other with the true love exemplified by Christ. It was an experience that has truly inspired me and want to always serve others.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Our main worship service is called sacrament meeting. It begins with the congregation singing a hymn, followed with a prayer. The sacrament is offered to anyone who would like to partake. We eat a piece of bread to remember the sacrifice Christ gave to us as he died on the cross for us and water to represent the blood he shed for us in his atoning sacrifice. By doing so, we promise to always remember him and try to live our life the way he showed by example to live. It is a time we can be forgiven of our sins. After the sacrament talks are given that are applicable to living a Christ-centered life. The meeting is then closed by singing another hymn and a closing prayer. Visitors are welcome to attend.
