Hi I'm Kirsten

I'm a Missionary serving in the Alabama Birmingham Mission, a Future Teacher, and a Mormon!

About Me

My aspirations include becoming an elementary special education teacher, a dancer, and one day, the best mom/wife I can. Right now though, I am a missionary! I left July 2013 to serve a mission in the wonderful state of Alabama! I love having the opportunity to serve those around me and helping others come closer to Christ! When I go home I will continue my education and learn everything I possibly can. I love reading (particularly books by F. Scott Fitzgerald!) and writing poems. I have a (not so) secret dream to be able to dance one day. I love hiking and running and just plain old experiencing what the beautiful world has to offer. I love music and have been singing since before I can remember and have been playing the piano for a few years. I am also a concert junkie... I can never get enough of awesome, hole-in-the-wall concerts and enjoying live music.

Why I am a Mormon

Because my parents are members, I grew up in the church. Yet, I wasn't truly converted until high school. I've had my own ups and downs throughout these 20 years of my life and have found that the times when I relied on myself, I came out weaker. BUT! When I relied on my Heavenly Father I was able to come out of trials stronger than I ever was before. That through having trials and relying on Heavenly Father and the Atonement of Jesus Christ I could actually come closer to them. So, after realizing this, I had a decision to make: be happy and live like I was brought up, or not be quite so happy and leave everything I knew. I am a Mormon because the teachings and standards of the church bring me more happiness then I could ever pretend is anywhere else. This is where my Father in Heaven wants me to be because it brings me closer to Him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live like Christ! I do my best each and every day to do as He would- whether it means simply loving those around me, smiling at people passing by, sharing my testimony with them, etc. No matter what I am doing, I do my best to let my actions speak louder than my words. Right now, I am serving a mission and have the beautiful opportunity to share this wonderful Gospel with everyone and help them come closer to Jesus Christ. In doing so, I get to show the world (Alabama) my beliefs and help them understand just how precious the knowledge we have is.

What do Mormons believe about family?

We believe that Families can be together throughout eternity; in this life, and the next. We believe that they are sanctioned by God, the Eternal Father. But, the only way we can be together forever is by first, being Sealed in God's Holy Temple (and be worthy to enter the temple) and by continuing everyday to be better than the last; applying the Atonement. I know that this is true from the feelings of the Holy Ghost and I am so joyful that I get to be with my wonderful family forever. Show more Show less
