Hi I'm Darcy

I grew up in a small farming town. I play rugby. I'm a quarter Italian and I speak it as well. I teach PE and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a physical education teacher at a K - 12 charter school. I also coach volleyball, basketball and softball. I love working with kids. I have also played rugby for a couple years, it is rough but so much fun! A great way to relieve all of my stress. My husband and I have been married for almost 6 years and have been trying to have kids for 5 of those 6 and haven't been successful. Sometimes it is very difficult to be a part of a church that puts so much emphasis on the family when I want one so bad and haven't been able to do so. However it is my faith that keeps me positive because I know Heavenly Father loves me and knows what is best. I am also Italian and lived in Italy for a hear and a half where I learned to speak the language and love the people over there! Between teaching full time, coaching, working with the young women and being a wife I am always busy but I always make time to talk to my Heavenly Father who has given me everything.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. Growing up my best friend's family was a perfect example of what a family should be. As I got older I realized it was because of how much they loved the Lord and followed Him. I wanted that. My home wasn't the happiest place all of the time so I went to hers and always felt happy there. I later realized it was the Spirit, the Holy Ghost, teaching me truth, a little at a time, through how I felt and what I learned from her family. I then searched and gained a knowledge of the gospel for myself. I love that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the same no matter where you go. I know that we as people aren't perfect but that the teachings of Christ are and when I follow them I am happy.

How I live my faith

I currently work with the young women in the church ages 12 - 18. I love this opportunity! It gives me a small taste of what motherhood must feel like because I get to watch these girls learn and grow. I love them with all of my heart. We get to meet together for an hour on Sundays and learn about how to better ourselves in the gospel and learn more about Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father and their plan for us. We also meet once a week on a week-night to have activities. Sometimes these are really fun and other times they are very spiritual. I love helping these girls learn so much more about themselves and seeing them find something in life they really enjoy. We do a program called Personal Progress where we pass off different things that help us better ourselves, hence the name personal progress. We progress towards our final goal which is to live with our Heavenly Father again. I am so grateful for the chance to be a part of the lives of so many amazing young women.
