Hi I'm Clara

I was born in Sidney, Nebraska. I've lived in Oklahoma and Colorado. I raised 4 children on my own. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've had many different jobs. I worked in a hospital for about ten years, and I loved it. I worked in a foundry in Oklahoma for about 11 years. I didn't like it so much, but I made what men were making and it provided what I needed to raise my 4 children. And I worked at a garment factory for about 9 years. I left there and came to Colorado to take care of my father until he passed away. While I was away from my home in Oklahoma it was destroyed by a relative, accidently. So, I decided to stay in Colorado. Attending church here helped make the transition easy. I currently live with my adult daughter who has a lot of health problems. We keep each other company.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of The Church because I know that the teachings are true. When I learned the beliefs of The Church, I was happy to know many of them were things that I already believed. I appreciated how the members were very accepting of me and my family even though we weren't perfect. I know The Church is true, that Joseph Smith is a prophet and that Thomas S. Monson is our living prophet at this time. I know that Our Heavenly Father answers prayers. He helped me raise my children. I know that Jesus Christ has made it possible for us to return to live with Our Heavenly Father some day. I love The Book of Mormon and I know it is the word of God.

How I live my faith

I have faced many challenges in my life. For example, a young man was accidently shot and killed on my property. My family was treated badly after that. Also, my house burned down with all my belongings. A few years later I was in a car accident and nearly died. I had a skull fracture, a broken arm, a broken leg, and was black and blue all over -- except the palms of my hands. I was in the hospital for four months. I received a priesthood blessing to be healed, and it worked! Through all my trials I have had faith that I and my family would be okay. I have been helped by many people. I enjoy helping others when I can. I enjoy visiting others and helping them as needed. I also love taking care of the little children at church.
