Hi I'm Bryce

I'm a Software Engineer, married with 2 children and another child on the way. I speak Mandarin Chinese. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Software Engineer who enjoys clean code practices. My job right now is to break other people's code and then nicely tell them to fix it. I am a happily married father of 1 daughter, 1 son, with another child on the way. I met my wife 10 years before I married her, but didn't realize it was her. I'm glad we found our way back. I've never been happier in my life. I love music and that is one of the things that brought my wife and I together. I even sang songs to our children while in the womb. They must have learned something, because they often sing in bed before going to sleep. I sing in a choir called Millenial Choirs and Orchestra and hope it spreads to China one day. I love how music can bring us to God. I love the great outdoors and like to mountain bike, hike, camp, and just enjoy the beauty God created for us. I have most of the Gary Larson cartoons memorized. I speak Mandarin Chinese and have a dream to teach every American that they can learn Chinese too.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, but struggled with a testimony myself. As a youth I fully expected a visitation from an angel or some unquestionable sign. God kept sending me the peace that comes through the Holy Ghost, but I had a hard time recognizing it. I remember asking many times the truth of the church and having a hard time with the answer. "I told you already. Can you deny the peace I have sent." I served a mission in Taichung, Taiwan and had many experiences there that solidified this answer. There were so many times that I saw miracles. Not the Red Sea being parted, or manna falling from the sky, but watching people change where it seemed an impossibility. I quickly learned that when I tried to force people to believe as I do, it pushed them farther away, but when I simply taught them the way…mountains were moved and they came unto Christ. I have had experiences that have removed any doubt that God exist. I will never deny these experiences and the truths they taught me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by every action, word, and thought. I strive to be an example of Christ. These are large shoes to fill, but I do wear size 12. I try to make people laugh and focus on the positive. I don't delight in putting down others and it saddens me when others seem to. I'm obviously not perfect, but I won't give up. One of the hardest goals of mine is to not let outside influences effect my happiness. I desire to be the author of my attitude and spread that good feeling to all those I come in contact with. I want show people that life is good.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Family has been my whole way of life. I love and serve my immediate and extended families. There is a link or bond between family members that strengthens and guides us. I believe that I will live with family again after this life. That thought gives me peace. I am looking forward to seeing my grand parents again and giving them a hug. There are many who are not given the opportunity to have a mom, a dad, or siblings. We cannot choose some of the things that happen in life, but it makes me sad for those who DO have the opportunity and pass it by. When my grandma passed away I would often go visit my grandpa just so he knew he had so many others around him who cared. I was amazed one day when he poured out his heart to me about how much he loved his wife. If I could only take that devotion and love for one's spouse and spread it around the world, I think there would be less divorces and families splitting up. There would be more joy.
