Hi I'm Christina

I love traveling. I love service. I love people. I love being a stay at home mom. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. After graduating from college I realized that dream and taught German at a high school in the Denver suburbs for 5 years. Why German? I learned German while fulfilling another passion of mine: traveling. In high school, I was a foreign exchange student in Berlin for a year. I discovered that I loved learning about other cultures and getting to know other perspectives and people. This led to many more opportunities. During college I took a break for a year and joined AmeriCorps- a domestic peace corps where I traveled the southern states providing service to communities in need. After getting married I found my next great passion- raising my two beautiful daughters who are my greatest joy in life. I quit my job as a teacher to fulfill my greater calling: being my kids’ mom. Now my days are filled with play dates, snack times, and naps, and I love every minute of it!

Why I am a Mormon

The easy answer is to say that I was raised Mormon- which is true. But when I was 12, I knew I had to discover for myself whether or not I believed in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. So I began seriously studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I prayed. And prayed. And prayed again. I gained a firm knowledge for myself that God does indeed live and that Jesus is indeed the Savior of the world. Now I am much older, and my belief in God has only increased as I have seen countless miracles and felt His presence in my life. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God- I know for myself because I prayed and got real answers to prayer. Whenever I feel discouraged or when I am experiencing great trials, I know that I can turn to God and that He will hear and answer my prayers. He has brought me such peace and joy- how could I possibly deny that? The fact is, I can't. And that's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My daughters and I started baking cookies and delivering them to people in our neighborhood who might be having a rough week. It’s a simple thing, but in the Bible the Savior taught us to “Love one another” and that is one small thing we are trying to do to accomplish that goal. Mostly, I live my faith in the little things- by reading the Bible and/or the Book of Mormon every day. By praying sincerely. By trying to be kind to others. I make a lot of mistakes along the way, but I keep trying. I have great faith in my Savior, and when trials come I turn to Him as my source of strength. Overall, I have a deep love of my Savior, and I try to do the things that He would have me do. I don’t think I do anything great or out of the ordinary- I am just a normal person trying to be good and trying to be nice to others. I think that is what Christ would have me do. At least I hope so.
