Hi I'm David

I grew up in the United States. I have wonderful parents who found the church while living in Germany. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a fantastic woman and am a proud dad of five wonderful children. I enjoy gardening, reading and music. By profession, I am a financial analyst and have worked in various industries, even owning our own business for a period of time.

Why I am a Mormon

Though my parents joined the church when I was about 8 years old I clearly remember what life was like prior to the gospel coming into our lives. The changes that happened over the subsequent years were dramatic and I am so thankful my parents chose that path. As I was growing up my dad always told me to make sure I make the choice of faith for myself and not based on what they chose. I was encouraged to learn about other faiths and religions. Most of my friends growing up were not members of my faith but were good christian people too. I learned alot from them. In the end I chose the Church of Jesus Christ because I found it teaches how I can most effectively return to my Heavenly Father, and that He provided a Savior for me in Jesus Christ to show me the way. I love how the gospel teaches of the love that God and his Son have for us and their great desire to have us come home to them. I am excited to know that the heavens are not closed and that God continues to speak to us through prophets, to me this a a tremendous example of God's love for his children. I am also a member because of the blessings of increased love that has come to my family as a result of the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The gospel has brought great peace in my life. For many years I suffered from anxiety and panic attacks. It was through prayer, reading the scriptures and inspired members of the church God placed in my life that helped me overcome this.

How I live my faith

My wife and I work with a local National Guard program for at risk youth. We minister to the spiritual needs of the youth and have a great opportunity to practice and exhibit the charity Christ teaches we should have. We also work with people of other faiths and have a great opportunity to put our arms around them, reach out to them and work together to help these youth make better choices. Each time we are done for the day or evening with these young people we leave with our spirits lifted and our hearts full of the love of God. It's fantastic to see light come back into the eyes of these once troubled youth. I also work in the family history program of our congregation. What a wonderful opportunity to help others search for their family and see the excitement as they find forgotten family lines and realtives! This is truly an inspired work of God.
