Hi I'm Keegan

I'm a college student. I love to serve my community. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a college student trying to find my place in society. It's hard, but I think it's well worth the struggle. I love to do outdoorsy things, anything from hiking to camping. I love to spend time to read a good book or draw. I hope to help my community in a career of law enforcement. Family is the most important thing to me on earth. I find it important have a loving environment within a home. I served as a missionary in El Salvador and Belize for two years and I love the Spanish language. Serving my Heavenly Father has changed my life completely.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, so many may think that it was by obligation. It may or may not have been that way for the first few years of my life, but I, like every member of the church, came to a point where I had to choose for my self. I was about 12 I think, and I asked my dad how he knew that God is real and that the Bible and the Book of Mormon were true. I really had some doubts, I had never seen God, maybe some smart guy made up all those stories in the bible and Book of Mormon. I guess to some, our beliefs can be pretty far fetched. How could I know? So I asked my Dad if all of these things are true, if God really does exist, if the scriptures are true, if Joseph Smith really was called by God to be a prophet like in biblical times. My dad then told me, "I want you to pay close attention to how you feel while I tell you what I am about to say." He then began to say everything in it's negation, that God was not real... that it was all fake. When he stopped he then asked me how I felt. I have never felt so cold and dark in my life, goosebumps ran up and down my arm in a sense of fear. What a horrible hopeless feeling. Then he said, "Now pay close attention to how you feel to what what I am about to say now." Then he began to testify, "God really does exist, He is our Father and he loves you, Jesus Christ is your Brother and he has suffered for you so that you can feel better after we make a mistake, He had provided a way for you to see him again. The Scriptures are true and Joseph Smith really was called of God to be a prophet as in Biblical times. The Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, is the prophet today, called by God to lead and guide us. And this I so testify, In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen." What joy filled my soul. That was no worldly feeling that I had just felt at that time, and I don't deny it to this day, nor will I ever. I had received my answer. I didn't see God nor any angel, but I know I will some day.

How I live my faith

I strive to follow my Saviors example. It is so hard. But I know that it will be the most rewarding thing that I can ever receive and help others receive if they let us. I am imperfect but I love to tell anyone about my beliefs if they would like to hear. I have a calling that I was given through divine revelation to My Bishop, (church leader) to serve and lift up those who may stand in need of comfort. to teach them, and help them grow their testimony. I also served as a missionary in El Salvador and Belize. Teaching the wonderful people there has made such a huge change in me and in many others that I have taught. It is an ongoing process of learning, there is so much that I have yet to learn. Anyone in the church can tell you about our beliefs but we can never teach you if it is all true, Only the Holy Spirit can help you with that. It's what you feel, that warm feeling inside, it's what brings you true happiness. All you have to do is listen, listen with your heart.
