Hi I'm Doug.

I grew up in Los Angeles. I'm married and have 2 kids. We live in Washington state. I'm a family physician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Tongan and a Kiwi. I went to school in the Los Angeles United School District where I enjoyed having friends of several nationalities. I played in piano competitions, danced and even taught the New Zealand war dance, the haka, in college. I enjoy tennis and met a woman whom I married and has taught me how to be a better man, husband, and a father. I was the first one to graduate from college and able to realize my dream of going to medical school. I work as a family physician teaching how to live healthy and enjoy interacting with and helping my patients. My favorite time, however, is the time I spend with my wife and 2 children.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents become members of our church when they were both single teenagers and met in Hawaii and married in the Los Angeles temple. I was raised knowing the gospel from an early age. I quickly found that living the lessons I learned at church brings me the most happiness in this life. I grew up in humble circumstances but due to my parents' desire to give me the opportunities that would help me to grow and help others, I was able to get an education, develop talents, and learn a foreign language that I still use with my patients (Spanish). These are all great blessings but only the icing on the cake when compared to the love and joy that comes from having a family. Even of greater worth is knowing that if I keep my Heavenly Father's commandments, and help others to learn of his gospel, I will be able to live with my family forever. Death will only be temporary because of my Savior's sacrifice for me and I will have the opportunity to thank him for all he has done for me. I know Jesus Christ lives, that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that we have a living prophet today who guides and directs His Church.

How I live my faith

Faith. Family. Work. Hobbies. Friends. Etc.. Finding balance in life can be challenging. I have come to understand I must put the Lord first in my life. If I make time for Him then everything else falls in their proper place. When I neglect Him in my thoughts and actions, I get more frustrated and unhappy with others, life, and myself.
