Hi I'm Doug.

I’m from Arizona and enjoy working and playing outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have wonderful wife and five amazing children who bless my life each day. I love playing and coaching sports with my family. My occupation in sales allows me to meet and work with incredible people who inspire and motivate me.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young adult, I volunteered to serve a church mission because I knew it was the right thing to do. Although my intentions were honorable, I didn’t realize I would soon need more conviction to make it two years without my parent’s guidance whom I’d relied on my whole life. I can still remember the moment I received the answer to why I would serve. I was talking about the mission of Jesus Christ as part of our Heavenly Father’s plan. As I discussed the Savior’s life-giving sacrifice for us, I had a feeling of absolute gratitude and joy that He, the Redeemer of all mankind, had atoned for my mistakes with His blood, even though He was perfect and the Son of God. As tears filled my eyes, I instantly felt His love for me and knew my sacrifice of a couple years to preach His gospel was the least I could do to repay Him. That was 25 years ago and the conviction to follow His example then is still with me today. I know Jesus is my brother and that He lives. He fulfilled His promise and has provided a way for all of us to return back to our heavenly home.

How I live my faith

The scriptures teach us to not hide our talents, but to share them with others. I’ve never been able to sing or play beautiful music, nor am I mechanically gifted to build or fix things. However, I love athletics and the life lessons that can be taught with each experience. I like to donate my time to community sports programs coaching my sons and their friends. I feel this is a good way to give back what my dad and others spent time teaching me as a youth. I’m grateful to have loving neighbors who serve our family. Whether it’s John looking out for home while we’re out of town, or Dave and Adelle bringing us fruit, or Kenny providing that needed tool to finish the project, our neighbors are examples and make me want to serve others too. On occasion, we enjoy gathering families in our community to go package food for distribution to homeless shelters. Other times, we like to help families move in or out of the neighborhood or with needed yard work. It’s nice to see the Savior’s light shine in all who seek to do good.
