Hi I'm Alyssa

I'm the oldest of four kids, I'm a military brat, I am serving a mission in Vancouver BC, I'm happy, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Alyssa. I plan on attending BYU-Idaho to become a high school math teacher. Hopefully, I will be able to come home and teach in the very school district I graduated from! I have lived in so many different homes, mostly because I grew up with my father in the air force. We ended up in Colorado after living in 6 states and 2 countries. I lived in England in my younger years, and was actually baptized there. My family and I have been in Colorado since 2006, and like to call this place home. (It's beautiful here!) My siblings are my best friends. My brother and I are pretty much inseparable, it's going to be rough to live for three years without him (that's just how our missions have lined up), but I know that it will all be worth it in the end, and I know we will be blessed for the sacrifice. My two sisters are great people too, they inspire me everyday to do what is right, to be a good person...though I definitely struggle with that sometimes. On October 1st, I will be in the MTC. I will be training how to speak fluent Mandarin Chinese, and prepare to serve in the Canada, Vancouver Mission to bring others unto Christ. To welcome them to learn of the mysteries of God, our Heavenly Father. I want to do this because I know He loves us and wants us to do as He would desire for us to do. And I love my Heavenly Father, and will do as He asks me to do, to serve a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church. My grandparents were all converts and brought the rest of the family into the church as well. I grew up in the church, and never thought the church was incorrect. Every question I have asked in this gospel has been answered with an answer I knew was right in my heart. I know my Heavenly Father loves me, and wants the best for me, and I have found that through this gospel, I continue to become the best I can be. I know it's true. I want to come up with a better reason, but the spirit has testified this to me, and I have chosen to believe it. This gospel is true.

How I live my faith

I wake up day by day, remembering how I need to be respectful to my Lord. I follow His commandments and try to make the best out of it.

What is faith?
