Hi I'm Dallin

I grew up in a small town in Arizona. I am currently serving a mission for the LDS church in Medellín Colombia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been serving a mission for the LDS church in Medellín Colombia since March 2013. I grew up in a small town and have been a member of the LDS church my whole life. I love to play soccer and participate in any form of music.

Why I am a Mormon

I said earlier that I come from a town where most of the population is LDS. Our town has about 4,000 people in it and we have three meeting houses. Growing up in a town where all my friends were members of the church and most of my teachers and leader, I never really doubted that the church was true. I never really had my own firm testimony that it was true but I never thought that it wasn't true either. It wasn't until I was in high school that I decided to get my own testimony. One of my teachers told our class that organized religion was pretty much a joke. That nobody knew what church was true because whatever church they were born in had ti be the true church. She gave the Mormons as an example. She said that from the time LDS kids are born they are taught that the LDS church is the only true church. By the time that they are adults they are so brainwashed that they will never doubt that any other church was true. I realized that this was what was happening to me. I had never taken the time to see for myself if I thought the church was true. I was just trusting what people had told me my whole life. I was determined to prove my teacher wrong and show that I wasn't just some brainwashed child. So I read the Book of Mormon, really and truly read it. I accepted Moroni's challenge at the end and prayed to know if the book was true. The answer I got was yes! After I knew that the Book of Mormon was true everything else just kind of fell into place. If the Book of Mormon was true then that meant that Joseph Smith wasn't a liar and he really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. If Joseph Smith was a true prophet then Thomas S. Monson and all the prophets bedore him were also true prophets. And if all of this was true then Jesus Christ had to be the Savior of the world. Jesus Christ had to be the center of the LDS church.

How I live my faith

As a missionary I have the opportunity to live and show how I live my faith every day. I literally have the name Jesus Christ pinned on my chest wherever I go. I suppose that the best manner to live my faith would be to be obedient. I know what the Lord expects of me and I know what I must do to complete those expectations. If I fail then it is nobody´s fault but my own. As a member of the church I always try to be an example of the believers. So many people think bad of the church because of the actions of one person. I always try to do what I think Jesus Christ would do. Of course I am not perfect, but another sign of faith is that we never give up, even when we fall.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Dallin
We believe the bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. When Christ was on the Earth he started his church. After he was crucified and all of his apostles were killed many things were lost. Many people tried to carry on the church that Christ started but nobody had the full truth. With each new church that started a new translation of the Bible was created. Now if you read the Lutheran Bible it will be different than the King James version, which is different from a Baptist Bible. With each new translation of the Bible certain things were left out. Just like the telephone game where one person tells someone something and they tell someone else and it just keeps going. By the time it gets to the last person he or she has heard something totally different than the original message. The same is true with the Bible, there are so many translations that many of them are missing vital pieces of information. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Dallin
We believe that a Christian is any person that believes in Christ and accepts him as their Savior. In that sense we are very much Christians. The name of the church is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He is the head of our church and without him we would be lost forever. Show more Show less
