Hi I'm Tom

I have lived in Arizona all my life. I am currently serving a Mission in Arkansas with my companion-wife of 45 yrs. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I was a young man, I was drafted during the Viet Nam conflict. I came home and married my wife, and settled down in my hometown to start a family. I worked for a major automobile manufacturer for 30 years, and retired. I then went to work teaching at an automotive career training institute using the very same knowledge that I acquired at the auto manufacturer . My career has been quite fun, and interesting. I also love electronics, and have made that my lifetime hobby. Computers have had a solid effect on me, and I love all types of electronic gadgets. Recently I have retired, and am currently serving a mission for the Church. I and my wife have been chosen to serve in the Arkansas Little Rock Mission, and are assigned to a branch which is located near the Missouri border directly north of Little Rock. We love our call! The people are great, and support us in amazing ways. My companion and I have two children, seven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that have always been members of the Church. My lineage goes back to the very roots of Mormonism, because my ancestors joined the church in the 1800's on both my mother, and my father's sides. However that doesn't mean that I accept the gospel simply because my history is so solid in the Church, but rather I have always had a very strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and the restoration of the true gospel of Jesus Christ. I love to share it with others.

How I live my faith

Our most recent calling in the church is Stake Baptism Coordinators. We help people on the day of their baptism. Our last calling as full-time senior missionary couple entails many roles. Since we were assigned to a small branch of the church (larger congregations are called Wards), we are given many of the weekly duties as do the regular members such as teach Sunday School lessons, give Sacrament meeting talks, minister to the sick, and those who need assistance. But this gives us much personal satisfaction that we are doing what the Lord would have us do. Service is the central focus of the Church, and by doing so, we can gain much love for those we serve. As do the young men and women missionaries serving full-time, we too are given a charge to teach people who are interested in knowing more about our religion. By so doing, we strengthen our own committments to live as Jesus Christ would want us to. We expect nothing in return, and the entire mission is a labor of love that we pay for ourselves, as do all missionaries who are called to serve throughout the world. Jesus Christ Himself did everything He did because of His love of God His Father, with no expectation of a reward in return. And then we too have that same love for our Father in Heaven, expecting nothing in return, as Jesus Christ has already paid the price in full through His Atonement. We love the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and want to share our knowledge of His church by serving Him at this time in our lives.
