Hi I'm Jared

I'm a parent, father, high school math teacher, basketball coach, and a Mormon. Life is great!

About Me

I have two beautiful daughters, an amazing wife and a baby on the way. If I'm not teaching or coaching, you can be sure to find me with my family (and dog) outside playing in the dirt or blowing bubbles. I really enjoy hunting and fishing and being in the greater out doors. My favorite pas-time is playing basketball- which is probably why I enjoy coaching so much. Although my kids are young, they're pretty sure basketball is their favorite sport too!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Because it's the right thing to do for me and my family. The Lord has let me know through quite promptings of the Holy Ghost. I haven't had the heavens open or heard a loud voice, seen an angel or anything major like that. I guess the easiest thing for me to compare feeling the Lord's love and being touched by the Holy Ghost is when each of my children were born. There is nothing quite so real....so deep and touching as being a part of that miraculous experience. The Savior is deeply rooted in my life and family. I feel quite fortunate to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. To be able to take part in the fulness of the restored Gospel is so comforting in today's world. I know that we have a prophet who communicates with God and reveals truth, expounds doctrine, and leads the Church like Moses of old. I know that Joseph Smith was also a prophet - and was essential in restoring these blessed truths. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I have read it, and know that it goes hand in hand with the Bible, conveying the truths of God. I know that Jesus lives today. Each of us have been given the responsibility to look for truth. I would encourage you to consider these words and others you may find here as truths. May the Lord bless you in your search!

How I live my faith

I have the wonderful opportunity of being involved with youth both in my profession and in my Church related assignments. Along with being a high school math teacher, I coach the high school boys basketball team. Being the coach has plugged me and my family right into the community. It's a rare occasion going somewhere in this small community without stopping and talking to somebody about basketball. We love it! I also have the privilege of teaching the youth in our Church - in particular the young men. Here I have the opportunity of guiding and instructing young men (of high school age) through the troubles they face. It's not always easy being a member of the our Church in small communities. There are a lot of pressures from friends to do things and participate things that aren't in harmony with our beliefs. I grew up in a small community and know what it's like and feel like I can help them quite well here.
