Hi I'm Kathleen

I'm a wife, mother, proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren, a retired teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kathleen - I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother of 10 wonderful grandchildren and I'm a retired junior high math teacher. Oh and I converted to the church almost 12 years ago! I have a strong interest in home decor, studying nutrition and most importantly being with my family. We enjoy growing a vegetable garden and our grandchildren love learning about the different plants and watching them grow. Sometimes, prematurely plucking them out of the ground due to their excitement! We've happily eaten some pretty small carrots... I can't complain, I have a wonderful life that is so fullfilling - not without trials, believe me - but nonetheless full of humor, peace and love! If you'd like to chat sometime, I'd love to hear about you.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by parents who taught me the value of being thrifty and working hard. As a Catholic they taught me about God and His son Jesus Christ and the importance of charity, prayer and faith in God. I grew up knowing there was life after death, which was a great comfort to my family when we suddenly lost my children's father. Even though I was a strong Christian I felt I was missing something spiritual. I had unanswered questions and a deep sense, an instinct so to speak, that there were more truths I had yet to discover spiritually. We have an LDS temple in our area and I used to go walk the beautiful grounds, because I felt so peaceful and calm there. It was a wonderful feeling! I didn't know anything about the temple - only what I felt when I was there. When I began to learn from the LDS Sister missionaries, I was filled with a knowledge that what they were teaching me was what I had been searching for. The only way I can explain the feelings that came over me is to say that "I knew with every fiber of my being that what I was being told was true"! The answers to my questions began to unfold in front of me and it was a very amazing and exciting time, but it was only the beginning... If you feel like you want to chat with me I would love to share more of my story and hear yours too! I love my family, I know that God loves me, I follow Jesus Christ's example and I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

Since becoming a member of the LDS church nearly 12 years ago, I have voluntarily served in my church, as many of you do. In the past I have worked with the youth, organized events for our members, and served in public affairs. Currently my job is to oversee the well being (both temporal and spiritual needs) for the women in our neighborhood. We break our churches up into neighborhood congregations, which I love. You get a real sense of togetherness knowing your neighbors and being able to serve them, watch over them and of course have fun with them! It's quite a diverse group of people too, which is nice for me. I am under the direction of a Bishop, also a volunteer position, and we work together for the good of our neighborhood families. Currently our congregation "ward", is working on a service project for an all boys academy located near us. We hope to build a lasting relationship with the academy, while sharing a measure of God's love for them through our service.
